Well, after three years of agony and ecstasy (ecstasy when it was working, agony on the many occasions when it wasn't), my Alienware Critical Support rep (my MiB!) has come through...I'm getting a full price at purchase credit upon return. Essentially, I send my ol' 7700 baack and I will have roughly $4800 to spend (I'm not returning my Ozma 7's baby!!). Well, nothing I can find out there right now compares with what Justin and Xotic PC have coming my way in terms of the 9262 lappy....so I'm going to go with a desktop! So I'll have an awesome new Sager 9262 from Justin and Xotic, but I'm trading in a broken 7700 for a brand new desktop...

...to Justin and Xotic...THANK YOU! I cannot wait for my Sager!

...to my AW MiB! THANK YOU for making good on a bad product. It took two years, way too long, but you have come through and have proven that, while sometimes we have to be way too antagonistic with you, you, in the end, are standing up to be counted....geeez, a new sager and a new AW desktop in the same span...I'm gonna go nuts!!!

    pat!

Thanks Chaz! I'm entirely more excited about the Xotic Sager than the new desktop...what it DOES do is make the family a little less jealous! (or mad that I spent so much on the lappy!! ).

    later,
    pat!

Phantom Gnome, I think Xotic ships overseas, I'd really give them a hard look...

Okay, let me answer some of your questions as best i can!

    * The paint job is a custom design by me (kind of)....since the case is silver, I went with a GOLD paint job on the LCD and bezzle...it really offsets the silver nicely! I created an interesting logo that is mostly blue/black to go on the center of the LCD...the logo is a captured screen that features a night sky w/ a rising moon on the right side and a rather nifty golden orb in the center (it is from Alphaville's new website...stunning). Since the moon dominated the right, I asked the Xotic art folks to redo their own logo and make it gold and white instead of red and grey...oh baby it looks sweet!

    * Think about Xotic, so far it has been a wonderful experience

    * My hope is it will be delivered by the 24th. Adding a paint job honestly does add two weeks as it is a meticulous process of you sending them design specs/artwork/requests, them sending you proofs of what they think you want, you approving, etc. Basically, that's a GOOD thing...no surprises, right?

    * I will definitely do a review here w/ pics, just to give people an idea of what the process was like receiving, pics of the rig, etc. I can do some general benchmarks, depending on what people want, etc. (If someone has any suggestions on what benchmark program they'd like to see used, that's fine, too!)

    * As for the SLi, remember, mine is coming with ONE 8800 first and when nVidia/Clevo/Sager release the drivers for the SLi, they're sending the second, so initially, I'll be operating off one card but will have the second in by early April no doubt!

    hope that helps,
    pat!

yeah im thnking XoticPC for the paint job (i know it wont improve the laptop but it will make it nice^^)

but as i live in UK i would have to pay £400 for the shipping and VAT

im trying to get a design done before i order^^

not sure about the program to use but i would like to see if you have any of them

    Sins Of A Solar empire
    TES: Oblivion
    Age Of Empires
    Blakc or white
    world in comflict

    Halo 2
    S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl

    Sorry Chaz :) ...

Back on topic, again, I'm definitely pleased with what AW has done for me...yes, it took too long but it did, indeed, end up being fair. Now I have to decide what to max out, what to leave as a middle ground, etc. What I HAVE to get used to is in desktops, you can pretty much upgrade anything you want later, which I'm definitely NOT used to w/ lappies!

    pat!

Since I'm going desktop this time, i'm more inclined to get my monitor somewhere besides AW. I definitely want 24" for the 1920x1200 reso and DEFINITELY want the glossy screen....it has been AGES since I've even spec'd out a desktop so I'm not at all familiar w/ a place to look for monitors...any suggestions?

    thanks all,
    pat!
