That was a problem i think i talked about. How the outer chips got far hotter than the memory or the core and thus cause the 880m to have major issues. That and the settings in the vbios need to be changed.
-
Ah ok now I understand. You thought that I reduced clocks to get them stable right? I was getting stable stock clocks but as @Mr. Fox said I wanted 780M, not 880M so I have one now
You know I don't play with overclocking when it comes to GPU. It's just too expensive and Im too poor to experiment with that. It's already very powerful on stock clocks but just for Witcher 3 I've set them to stock (954 MHz) using MSI Afterburner.
Ah and link to heatsink mod is in my sygnature

Yep. That's what I thought.
I need to consult with someone first, but maybe i'll go back and try to fix the 880M sli since I have a good idea what's wrong.
Interesting mod indeed.
I think i still have a slave heat sink laying around somewhere.Kade Storm, woodzstack, Mr. Fox and 1 other person like this. -

How it works on NBR and T|I
Me: "Says something factual, but not something people might want to hear"
Response: "Well damn, that sucks, anything I can do?" or "You're wrong, here's some evidence proving you were mistaken" *link evidence*
Me: "Here is everything you can do, if anything at all" or "Oh, well ok, cool, the more I know!"
How it works on other forums:
Me: "Says something factual, but not something people might want to hear"
Response: "NO! SCREW YOU! I LIKE MY STUFF! UGH! YOU'RE SUCH A FANBOY! YOU SUCK! I DON'T BELIEVE YOU! YOUR FACTS MEAN NOTHING!"
Me: *groans internally* -
Ahh that's too true. Just about every discussion degrades into an emotional response like that. And somehow learning something is deemed shameful. Everyone miraculously knows all..

It reminds me how whenever someone has a problem installing their videocards they buy from me, they start off with how it is DOA and service was crappy, and that they have 20 years experience fixing laptops. I always reply that I have much less experience then I actually do, but admit I'm wrong soo often , however, if my laptop started to beep 8 times when I turn it on after hitting the Fn+Fx switch on my laptop and trying to restart, I would at the very least google my laptop's name, or booting issues or beeping codes... yet, every week, I get some genius with masterful experience, having issues with his Alienware and insisting first, that my videocards failed. To date, none have been DOA. Theres been silly S/H mistakes, wrong vbios, on occasion, human error, but always high quality. YET - 4800 videocards later - all not DOA - every single time, they insist DOA.
Its always the EXPERTS too that have trouble installing the cards. I don't know why none of the guys who tell me, they are sort of familiar with hardware or have never done this before, ALWAYS seem to get it to work. But the BEST EXPERTS in the world, VETERANS, people who says they been hacking since the apple 2 (lol..seriously) have issues, just googling,50% of the time too, they manage to get it working when I explain whats wrong, then come back 2-3-4 weeks later, and its broken again. Guess what, they overtightened the screws too and cracked the gpu die , or didn't put any thermal paste on, or put so many thermal pads where the ram was the gpu die didn't touch the heatsink.
Always the experts, seriously. THEY ALWAYS say it was either a DELL technician who is a friend who is and expert or they haver 20-25 years of computer experience with installation and troubleshooting and UGH I could vomit!
I just point out how much of a newb I am, and how easy it was to fix the issue for them. I don't feel the need to explain my technical experience to anyone, I got enough people in the world acting like fanboys asking me my every personal opinion on everything computer wise as it is. 90% the time the answer is easy. "I DO NOT KNOW !"
so STOP ASKING ME- AND GOOGLE IT ! lol
Customers are fine, I do not mind helping them, thats' customer service, if its people on NBR , sure why not, we're all friends here. But, creating an account- then messaging me and you haven't even replied to any thread before... little sketchy.deadsmiley likes this. -
Best way to deal with imbeciles in forums if you don't have the power to ban them is to just ignore them or be super nice to them. They really hate both of those things. Their whole purpose is to stir up hate and discontent, so that lets all the air out of their tires. Nobody likes to be ignored, but they deserve to be. That's the ultimate reward for stupidity. Sometimes being nice to them makes them go away or act less retarded.

Mr. Fox their whole purpose is to go full retard and your method does wonders. I've put it in practice and gets them even madder because they simply don't have a way to give a response back and completely black out hahah

Guys I wanted to ask this question but don't know if it is the right topic. Does it exist a vBios for Clevo 880M with a new version number ? I'm asking because I've been using the stock vBios and was wondering about it because there could be one that fixed some issues.. does it exist ?

Hi!
Currently I'm working on project to turn k3100m/k4100M into k5100m/GTX 880m without hardware mod and I'll be very appreciative if you help with some stuff I'm looking for people with gtx 780/870/880 or quadro K3/4/5100M. All you need to do:
1. Download GPU-Z and save the vBIOS.
2. Download RWEverything, in top corner select "Access-->PCI". Then windows should appear - select device called "nVidia Corporation VGA Controller". After, save the info to binary with Shift+F2 combination.
3. Share this two files with me
Best Regards,

Can I ask you to make dump in RWEverything for first and second board? It would be perfect.

Here's another late post.
I'm one of the sad guys who is stuck with a clevo laptop with a gtx 880m. I've googled alot and read pages of disturbing info (**** you Nvidia)!!.
My question and cry for help is... what driver should I be using?
Any advice, links to download etc. is most appreciated. -
I had a clevo with an 870m, so I bought a 980m and sold the 870m to make up the difference. It was only a $130 upgrade when all was said and done. Not bad at all, though it wasn't as huge of an improvement as I thought it would be. Whatever you decide to do, I highly recommend installing the Prema BIOS.
