    Hey
I'm going to give you my alienware story, this is going to be painfull because at the moment I am without a laptop so I'm using my windows mobile - 15 words per minute ftw lol.
Anyway it's going to start from now and i hope i can keep it interesting! To begin with its going to be the story up too getting the m15x and then i will write a fully fledged review with hi res pics (nikon d60 iirc).

    Stage 1 - 9 in 12 days!

    ------------------------------
    My specs:
    Proccesor: 2.5ghz
    Ram: 4gb
HDD: 320gb, 7200rpm with freefall sensors
    Design: Skullcap
    OS: Vista Home Premium
I will update later but painstaking typing with my phone lol

Hope you are all good (my hand hurts lol)

Okay so I couldn't really update my thread because my WM phone is a ******* to use lol.

But today it was on phase 5, and then i got home after about 6 hours and its phase 9!!

Awesome, only 12 days waiting (I doubt it's true though, phase 9 must be an error)

Well, I haven't had any DHL tracking numbers emailed to me, so thats what makes me think there's an error lol.
But email'd them, so I shall wait

NIRVANA: there could be an error... Thats why I'm asking why its jumped from 5 to 9, is this normal :?

I think as an owner you should get access to AW forums for questions like that. At least Dell always has.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, there are hundreds if not thousands of threads with people saying, I've ordered this, I've ordered that.

All the OP said was he has ordered his NB and when gets it he will review, test it and the whole nine. All in this thread, not start another thread for each part.

He's just doing what you yelled at someone in another thread for NOT doing.

no mobo change necessary. as for the GPU upgrade, the 9800m-gt is essentially a 8800m-gtx, and the only higher 9-series card, the 980m-gtx, won't appear in 15 inch notebooks any time soon.

Doesn't one of the sagers have it (15) inch?
And how much would the processor extreme cost, and do I have to buy it via alienware + do they get it?

And armando, I email'd in, and you replied :) - thanks, I can tell when you reply, because you actually give me information I need, whereas others just repeat stuff I can decipher from the order page!

the sager np8660 has the 9800m-gt as far as i know, which is basically the 8800m-gtx in the m15x. there's really no difference. the extreme CPU, bloody expensive, i'd say 600$ or so. i believe Oceanus got his directly from China for mere trifles compared to that.

I think you must have mistaken me for somebody else. The only thing I've ever substituted in my m15x was the RAM I bought directly from Newegg. I have the 2.5 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo just as you do.

The 9800M-GT is a re-branded 8800M-GTX as whizzo noted. Nvidia has a habit of rebranding cards lately.

Congrats on the purchase, and keep us updated. :)

Hmm, so if you're right about the 9800gtx then there's no speed increase from the 8800gtx?

And another question, when intel bring their new range of processors for the laptop out, will it be compatible with the m15x motherboard?

    ugh.

    8800m-gtx = 9800m-gt
    9800m-gtx =/= 9800m-gt

about the X9000: i think it was an m17x user who did it.

The performance difference between the "Santa Rosa" platform the m15x is based on and the "Montevina" aka Centrino 2 platform that just came out is negligible at best. You would not see a difference between the two platforms. Just enjoy your laptop. :)

I liturally mythered them every day :D (P.s I also mentioned the fact that I wanted it before my birthday - 26th of September) so that could of helped. But I'm annoyed I'm estimated to get it on the Tuesday and I'm not home till friday (my birthday) so I have to wait 3 WHOLE DAYSSS NOOO!
But the customer service has been really helpful to me, and I haven't rang them once. I just emailed them :)

Also I will write a review on the friday, with millions of hi-def pics - because that's what I thought was lacking with most reviews :p
