I have a question about my m15x system
When I turn on my laptop and just stop at the destop screen, without running other programs in the background except the default one, my laptop temperature showed in ThermoFan is :
CPU Temp: 51, System Temp: 46, VGA Skin Temp: 66, VGA Internal Temp: 70
I am using the high-performance graphics, not the integrated graphics, with the stealth mode off, is it normal? Because I can feel the heat on the right hand side of the touch pad.

    My system cofiguration is:
    INTEL X9000 CPU
    4GB DDR2 RAM
    NVIDIA 8800M-GTX
    320GB 7200RPM
    VISTA ULTIMATE

I'm pretty sure that's normal. The m15x is by far one of the most heat producing laptops there are. On load, it has been reported that the GPU temperature could reach up to 100C+ and a CPU temperature of around 70-80C (correct me on this guys). Having it idle at 51C is pretty normal, I think.

    Thank you for your answer
I was wondering the temperature because I didn't run any software but still get to like 70 for the video card

I'm pretty sure he means good gaming laptops do not crap out when they're running too hot (automatic underclocking and such).

I don't think that's what he meant, plus most of the laptops if not all got the same safety features.

well I saw a post somewhere in this forum saying that the 8800 GTX has a safety feature that will automatically downclock or something like that when the temperature get to high

Zeng, you can only judge whether your laptop overheats or not, if you use it.
Stress the CPU, stress the GPU and monitor for temperatures.
I would recommend you getting Rivatuner (for monitoring GPU temperatures) and RMCLock and HWmonitor (for CPU clocks and temperatures, respectively).
I am sure you will experience CPU downclocking (as you have the extreme processor and 100% of NBR users with the same CPU have downclocking) and you can just hope you didn't get one of the GPUs that just goes up to 100C when playing Crysis (for example).
