My m15x which I got yesterday won't play blu ray! How annoying...I bought a copy of Resident Evil Extinction on blu ray to watch on my laptop and when I tried to play it, Cyberlink PowerDVD BD edition gave the following error message:-

"The player cannot support this content(Error code= 0020). Possible reasons are:

    1) Your optical drive is revoked, please contact your drive manufacturer
    2) Cannot support duplicate copyrighted disc
    3) CAnnot support protected content from had disc(HDD)"

WTF!? I have the blu-ray reader by the way. Optiarc BD ROM BC-5500A ATA Device

Could be a possibility, inspected it and it looks fine, not a scratch, fingerprint on it.

Well it's either you have a defective drive, in which case you should call Dell, or you have a defective DVD, in which case you should go back to the store and exchange it.

I would do the latter first as it's much simpler and quicker. If that doesn't work, then it's obviously the drive and you should call Dell.

Is there a blu-ray driver that you are supposed to install? Try reinstalling that.

I'm thinking that it is just a bad Blueray disc. Try a different Blueray Disc. And if that doesn't work call AW Tech Support and see what they can do for you.

I would try updating the drive firmware and software. If I remeber corretcly that blu-ray is version 1.1 you may just need an update

I remember when I had the m15x, PowerDVD made me do a software update something before I could watch Blu-rays.

yup if you have version 7.2, you need to free update to 7.3 (via settings panel, upgrade button - will do a complete reinstall of powerdvd)... and set your region correctly too ;) mines was default to usa (me being in europe)

Chaz is right it's probably a PowerDVD problem.
Try one of the solutions of Chaz or nirvana0001.

Maybe you could check that the blue ray reader is from the "zone" (I don't know the word in English) of your Blue ray.. (you know 1 for US, 2 for Europe.. (the earth icon on the blue ray)).

[edit: it's seems like "zone" = region]

    Why call Dell?

Update your PowerDVD, if that doesn't work, call Alienware.

The first time I tried to play a blu-ray disc on my XPS m1730, it asked me to do a Dell Media Center update before I could play the movie. So look for any software updates.
