Wow, they really said that about the m15x? If they think it's that bad, they have to have something new coming...

They didnt actually said it's like chalk and cheese i actually emphasised that.

I am going to edit my message so people dont get mixed up and thinking their m15x is a piece of Hyundai.

Sweet, man. The m17x looks like an awesome laptop, I'm sure you won't have any problems with it. I'm just waiting for Alienware to offer a better m15x before I order.

I've seen the Qosmio in BestBuy, and I wasn't impressed at all. It's really thick, heavy, ugly, and the screen on it is horrible. Thanks for the recommendation, though.

Nice video. Other than the build quality problems you've had, how do you like your m15x now?

Well the m15x is very stable for me but it does have some heating problem - just be very careful before you buy one.

Remember you will need 3 year warranty as well or you will lose so much money.

I used to like it but it's nothing special at all. It will look so out dated when you turn off all the AlienFx lighting.

Thanks Oodler i can't wait for it but it will be here in a month's time.

I heard the build quality is like chalk and cheese between the m15x and the m17x.

I am glad u r happy with it it makes me feel much better knowing a lot of people loving their m17x.

i can only go on what i've heard and they seem very different. Mind you the m15x is lighter than the m17x so i guess you get better build quality but, more eight because of it...

I love my m17x, the screen is awsome..I'm sure you will enjoy it (",)

i am just worried bout the weight mostly because i fly on the chopper to get to the oil rig - they have bag weigh and size limit plus my own weight.

Hmmm well it's not alight notebook i'd say 5 - 6Kg (12 - 13Lb) plus the power brick so probably 7Kg all told...

Might be a bit heavy if you've got to go on a chopper, I know they have limited size/weight carrying abilities...

I guess unless you can get it brought over after you or something it might be too heavy... bummer. It's a great notebook.

Your point being? I'm sure most of us have never owned a ferrari or a lamborgini and people are always saying that Alienware is like the ferrari of the computers. Have those owned a ferrari?

That's probably why i was so disappointed with the m15x it sure as hell didn't feel like a Ferrari or a Lamboghinni.

I have driven the Ferrari F355 that's about it but never owned one. I used to dream about those cars but now I have family and that's a lot more important to me than any Ferrari.

Thank you for he nice words on my music I am also a bit hesitant about the m17x :(

Alienware told me the m17x is not built from the same factory as the m15x - because of this alone I will give it a shot.

Will post my pictures of the m17x in about a month's time when it arrives.

The power brick it self is 3 pounds and the m17x is 11.5. Remember that the m17x is made to stay on a desk most of the time.

but then it should be a desktop....not a laptop...but that is where they side channel the concept and call it a notebook instead... ;)

no, it's desktop replacement. the performance of a desktop, but all in one big box, so it's easier to move around etc.

OK guys this will cause me headache I am buying a lap top not a desktop replacement disguised as a heat problem of a notebook laptop.

I will have to call Alienware and sort this out. I need it for flying around with it's so boring on the rig watching same programs on tv day in day out.

You might want to post that stuff in the off topic thread because you might get unlucky and get an infraction thrown at you for posting random stuff on someones thread. Not telling you not to do it, just a heads up.

what does it matter if it's "your" thread? it's still in the Alienware section and is titled "My new Alienware Area 51 m15x". so all posts in it should belong to a related discussion. if you want to show your instruments and music, i think there's a general discussion section somewhere :)
