Just cusiour but, what was the score before installing the updated BIOS?

You might need to re-scan the scoring...

Also it works on the score you get being the slowest/worst component so if you've only got a little RAM you;ll get a low score for that....therfore a overall low score...

You score will only be as high as the lowest scored conponent in the scan...

    Just my 2p...

So... your index score is dissapointing and then you fill a thread with pictures of stuff with lots of lights and hot cars and girls.
Here is an idea... try to post a screenshot of your index vista score so that we can see which component is giving you a low score. What about that?

Both memory and CPU values are very low. Are you, by any chance, in stealth mode or power saving mode?

Right... So, there's 4 touch controls on the top that are lighten up. You have, from left to right, the Bluetooth control, the Wireless control, the AlienFX control and, last but not least, the Stealth mode control. When you press it, it will be slightly brighter than the others. When you press it, you will also see a small display on the screen stating whether you are switching on or off, the Stealth mode.

    Tips on pressing:
You need to apply some pressure. Keep your finger on the Stealth Mode button for a couple of seconds with some gentle pressure (it's not enough to only have the finger there).

Hope that will sort your problem out. And... maybe you should study a bit more your machine. It does help to know what are all those fancy things for! :D

By the way... Stealth mode downclocks both your CPU and GPU so that you save on energy (they will run much slower, but it will improve battery life and reduce noise levels from fans).

do i need somekind of Phd to edit the power plan?

I click on High Performance under preferred plan and nothing happen.

nothing works everything is greyed out why is alien command so hard to use?

i cant tell by pressing teh stealth button if its on or not this is very bad programming by the alienware.com

i pressed the last button on top of my keyboard that looks like a speedometre. It turned dimmer does that mean i turned stealh mode off?

Ahh i see i turned it dimmer ran the test and my score is now back to 5 and 5 is the lowest which is my ram.

    Thanks for the help :)

One point you seid is you reinstalled Vista. Did you go to My Hive and download the drivers software and such.

    http://support.alienware.com/Profil...l=/Support_Pages/Restricted_Pages/myhive.aspx

I dont think this issue is overheating. Stealth mode mybe. If you had extream overheating your computer would just shut off. CPU have a auto shut off at 100c. My would do it. It was a core 2 7600 2.3ghz I would hit 110c and the computer would just turn off. I would beleave the newer ones would have better power management.

Ok do this. Ask alienware to send you updated files on a CD. Or by email. Or Messanger. Another idea check on the England Alienware site.

you have to add the modded inf file. you should be able to download it from the same place. download the driver, execute it (this creates a folder), download the modded inf, replace the inf in the folder with the modded one, and then run the setup exe in the folder. reboot and enjoy. :)

I would try the maker of the drivers

    http://www.nvidia.com

Calling or emailing them will give you the info to download the laptop drivers

Nvidia won't provide you absolutely any drivers. They will say you have to get them from the laptop's manufacturer.
And regarding driver support with the M15x, everyone knows that AW haven't done a single update on their drivers since they came out. Given that this is a gaming laptop that should be maximized for efficiency at all times... I can only say this is poor service.

Do as whizzo says. Download the driver from laptopvideo2go and, on the right side of the driver link, you will see something saying mod inf. You will need to download this as well and copy it over the inf that is included in the driver pack.

    Good luck.

General trobuleshooting at least in my experience with laptops:

    - You should try the drivers from Laptopvideo2go.com, browse around to find which are the most stable drivers. Sometimes, the one or two versions from the latest one available there are quite stable.

The latest version may still be beta (or fixes a few things), so try two or three of the last few versions.

    - Also make sure that you are not running on battery.

    - If it's a laptop, use ONLY the internal monitor. If it's a desktop system use only a SINGLE monitor.

    - Turn off any energy saving or Speedstep options either on Windows or BIOS.

    - Are you running any software on the background? Are connected to either a wired or wireless networks? Running antivirus or firewall software?

Also, to obtain true numbers, benchmarks must be run with a new, clean system installation (just operating system and drivers) and disconnected from networks or other devices.

    Note:

This is not a manual and is based solely on my experience building computers and servicing laptops. Hope this helps.

    Keep this discussion on-topic, please.

    Things to keep in mind:
    1. Use the edit button below your posts if you want to change them. There is no need to make multiple posts.

    2. Don't post huge images. It makes for a lot of annoying scrolling. Just post a link to the image.

    3. We do not allow discussion of running Mac OS X on PCs per the forum rules.
