Hello ...
Hello Yesterday I replaced the hard disk (DELL Lab)
My question is this.
Before I replaced the Hard Disk my rating ( computer => properties ) was 6.1 and now is 2.6 ? ? Why ?

Have you installed any drivers?
-
Yes. They Install all the windows and drivers again...
-
Is the AC adapter plugged in?
Make sure you choose "High Performance" under Power Options and try to run the WEI again. -
still 2.6 ...
Maybe I need to update drivers?( with DriverScanner ) ? -
It's because of the false advertising of your avatar pic
edit: that was a joke.
if you didnt do it yet reboot and try again -
reboot what ?????

Presumably the new HDD is 7200rpm or SSD? if it is a larger drive, they are sometimes slower speeds, which would account for the lower rating. The rating is usually speed not size/heat.

Dylan, please research your hard drive as we do not know anything about it since you have gave us no info on the old one and the new installed one, specs on hard disk required.

Without any details, i would suggest that if the new HDD wasn't too expensive it would be a normal "Spinning" drive, it it was a lot of money it would be an SSD. But, saying that it depends on what you chose to buy.

How do I know what hard disk i have now ?
-
Hard drive score is fine...it's the processor that took the nose dive in the score.
What processor are you running? -
ok i looked at the receipt i and saw that I had 500gb 7200RPM SATA 3GB/S
Now I need to see what HARD disk are installed for me ... ( That should be it HARD ) because it's under warranty.... -
Why is this related to the processor? My processor was fine ....
receipt said i had Intel core i5 2430m 2.4ghz (3.0ghz w/turbo boots 3mb cache ) How do I check if this is true ?
that what i have now ( from directx diagnostic tool )
its same ?>
( Before replacing HARD DISK everything was fine .. its was 6.1 )Last edited by a moderator: Feb 6, 2015 -
You never mentioned what system you actually own. I assume by your name its a M17x, but what "R" model?
-
Looking at rest of the scores it seems like everything took a nose dive; as WEI will report the lowest score, just about everything is below the 6.1 you mention.
-
its 14x not m17x and its was 6.1 and now its 2.6 ... ( Because I replaced the HARD DIS ) ...
why my processor rating so low now ? only 2.6 ? its same processor ? right ? -
Which model? I own an M11x R3...
-
its 14xR1 and its was 6.1 and now its 2.6 ... ( Because I replaced the HARD DIS ) ...
why my processor rating so low now ? only 2.6 ? its same processor ? right ? -
None of this makes any since...if it truely was a 6.1, that means you would of had an SDD before as any HDD only gets a score of 5.9. Plus rest of your numbers are skewed a bit.
-
yeh yeh sry .... 5.9 u right.... so why its now 2.6 ?
-
You can't own an R1 as that processor was not available back then...
You don't even know what you own and I'm done wasting my time. -

Go to Intel and get the latest drivers for your computer from there.

stiilll 2.6 ):
-
Why not try running one of 3DMark's benchmarks to see what you are getting in those. Could just be windows being stupid.

What do you use your computer for?
-
Are you still having problems or did you find a solution?
-
still 2.6 .. and idk why ): ....
-
Have you contacted Dell about your problem? They came out and replace the hard drive...the person who probably did the hard drive probobly forgot to reconnet something. Can you take the bottom off and look for loose connections? There is only four screws for your to remove. Why did you choose that avatar?
-
Are you plugged into a wall outlet and running the "High performance" power profile? Your 2.6 CPU score suggests the CPU is basically taking a nap and cannot run full speed. That will also drive down your other scores because the GPUs also take a nap when running on battery or the "Power saver" profile.
The part of the system with the lowest score is what you end up with for the overall WEI score. The overall score can never be greater than the score of the lowest component. So, if you had 6.1 before that would mean your new hard drive is slower and your overall WEI score will be 5.9 if everything else is 5.9 or higher. A HDD score of 5.9 is completely normal. If you had 6.1 before your old HDD was performing abnormally well. -
have you checked if turbo boost is enabled in bios? also have you got the right chipset drivers from alienware using your service tag
