I wonder if this is normal...
But I recall that the last time I use the optical drive, it does not bump out the case because it makes it uneven and ugly.

If there is any solution, please post it here thanks

i guess you could open the drive up and look for any physical obstructions.

just put it in ur notebook and see if it sticks out. im pretty sure it will be fine as almost all notebook cd/dvd/bd/... slim type drives for notebooks have this additional space between the end of tray and the case of the drive. when u put the drive into a smartbay, it should be leveled with the rest of the chassis when it "sticks out" and reclined when u push it all the way in.

let us know how it turns out though ;)

mine doesn't stick out at all. however, if only slide the drive into the SB slot, it will stick out a bit. i have to firmly push it all the way in to make it flush.

ah... if I push it all the way in it did level with the chasis but it won't last long because it will bump out a split second after...

So the optical drive in the SB will stick out without external force...

sure. Mine is sticking out a little bit, but it's loose so I can push it to align with the chasis but it will stick out again if I move my hand away.
