well, my m15x experience took a few interesting turns recently; some bad, and some good... but strange.

    quick recap:
had a busted 8800 GTX the first time they sent it to me, couldnt run 3dMark06 properly.

    sent it back

    they replaced the motherboard...
recieved it and sent it back the next day

they replaced the video card and the "C" pannel (get rid of gap above ethernet)

    recieved it.

Now, i got the comp back on wednesday, played around with it for 3 days and this is what i found:

-latancy is visibly still high (even with x36 bios) and the computer took much longer loading any program compared to my Asus G2.

-Performancewise, it had less than 25 fps in most parts of WoW with graphics at about 80% of max. about 5500 on 3dmark06 scores with later scores decreasing to a bsod.

-Keyboard feels great, but hard to get used to. the double letters still happen although less often

-LCD has a strange blue discolouration visible on a black screen, about 2 inch long, .5 inch thick blue smudge that i cant describe any better.

-Audio popping still pronounced, tho less prevalent

Needless to say, I was beyond disappointed; I was livid. I called up Roswell and plainly said, and in very polite tone and terms, that I have had enough and I want my money back. And in less than 10 min, they sent me the shipping label, full refund.. Awesome! (this was yesterday)

Now, today I went on to uninstall some stuff and wipe my personal data, can never be too safe you know? I realized I still needed to do my daily quests for WoW (yes im a WoW nerd, backoff) and my Asus needed to be reconfigured for campus internet...

So, I said screw it and booted up WoW thinking I'd turn down the graphics and be done asap.

I **** you not, WoW booted in 4 seconds, loaded the map in 3 seconds, and then the FpS never dropped below 60 in game. the cities went to 40-30 with 20+ people on the screen... and this was still at 80% graphics. (vertical sync on, otherwise it was topping 80s).

Tried surfin online, youtube etc... no audio popping, loads were fast, everyhting was working like a new machine... stil issues with keyboard but not bad.

My questions to the NBR public is:
What the hell changed to make it run... the way it should?
What should I do, send i back as per , or talk to them about keeping it? im still weary idk lol

Tell them, it seems like it could be temporamental. And you would like to keep it for a few more days to see if it occurs again.

It sounds like stealthmode though :p

You could have also had a program that used a lot of background processing. Such as a heavy anti-virus software. Conflicting drivers or stealthmode being on. There seems to be a lot of confusion of when stelthmode is on or off.

Slethmode is off when the light is dim, this will increase your performance.

just go to alienware command center, and click on alienfusion. It will tell you clearly whether you are on stealth mode or not. see my attached pic.

Love reading good stuff about Alienare they are great people to deal with.

I would keep it if I was you mainly because you know ALienware are great to deal with and the plus it does run games very nicely.

My wife played secondlife on our m15x and it ran faster than any desktop that was built for gaming. It was fast it also accepted 3 other operating systems along side the Vista Ultimate ;)

If they replaced the chinese plastic with the US almighty Aluminium casing i would buy the m15x anyday.
