Hey Alienware owners. I've heard through the grapevine, some AW owners are not happy with the 7970M and Enduro. I know you guys are better off being able to turn off Enduro, but maybe can help us out.
We've been posting in some prominent forums that AMD responds to and trying to get some support. Post, reply and let AMD know and others of this issue!
Create a thread on a forum/blog that AMD listens to and provide us the link so we can respond and show support for your effort!
Main points I would point out to them is...
1). This is not just a Clevo issue since the muxless implementation is not affecting Nvidia GPU's negatively.
2). Only way for MSI and AW users to get full performance is to disable Enduro.
3). Current solution being promoted by Clevo owners and NBR is, exchange your 7970M for 680M.
4). No workarounds have been found, nothing works. The only solution we can recommend is the above, get a refund on the 7970M and get yourself either a Nvidia or go with a AW/MSI.

AMD requested threads to be closed?
...
Ah well, out of return period but this will be duly noted next time I purchase a laptop. +1 for the effort hulawafu -
I've always recommended AMD, but right now, I'm starting to think, maybe it's time to say no more AMD for me, no more paying ridiculous amounts of money for a mobile part that isn't as powerful as their desktop part, but still cost 2X much. -
There is a reason the thread mentioned was closed: Explanation
All the conspiracy theories and what if scenarios are a waste of calories. Bottom line... AMD is doing whatever they can to exercise damage control.
It was not all that long ago that NVIDIA was defending itself in a class action lawsuit for mass producing defective products. They have not had a repeat performance, knock wood. Mistakes can be made by people and companies... It will be interesting to see what steps, if any, AMD is willing to take to correct their engineering blunders. Releasing good drivers would be a nice start.
Let's not have a new thread for ranting here in the Alienware Forums. The functionality issues surrounding 7970M and examples of poor AMD driver support stand on their own merits based on the volume of requests for assistance in resolving technical issues by end users all over the internet.
If you are having specific technical issues with your 7970M system, please post in the appropriate forum for your particular model of Clevo, Sager, Alienware, etc. The best way to build a case that things need to be fixed is by documenting the issues for AMD to see them. What they will do with that information remains to be seen at this point.
Please keep it civil, folks. Remember forum rules... PG-13 rating. And, please, no personal insults against posters you disagree with.

I didn't realize this issue is more wide spread, it seems to affect ALL GCN-based GPUs.

I posted at Rage3D, as I would like to see this get enough attention to create an incentive for AMD to take appropriate action on correcting their engineering mistakes and driver issues. As far as being called a jerk or a troll, that kind of goes with the territory when you have to deal with fanboys that believe their favorite brand is without flaw. They often assume that if they are having no issues that anyone that is having them must be a troll or somehow causing their own problems. They are sometimes overly forgiving of problems even when they are experiencing them. Plus, nobody likes being told their baby is ugly, LOL. So, don't worry too much about that. Try to ignore it. It looks like there are lots of people affirming the fact that 7970M (and other GCN-based GPUs) and Enduro technology are not working correctly, so the fanboy will end up looking like the fool for not being able to accept the reality of the situation. The ability to disable Enduro is a huge advantage for the Alienware owners that own a system which has Enduro, but doing so doesn't correct any underlying issues with the AMD technology itself... it simply avoids the issues. That is an excellent reason to buy an Alienware versus a competitor's system. It's also an excellent reason to buy a different brand of GPU.
