Yeah man. Especially on a freakin' microwave oven that is the tiny m15x with a 8800M GTX, I'd be major pissed off if I didn't get the liberty to keep the fans running on high when I wanted to! Why doesn't someone contact AW about it, then ? :D

Interesting post about the defective GPU's. That would explain why, about two or three weeks ago, I called to check on my order and AW told me there's a hold up because they're running tests on all the 8800m gtx's they received. Thanks for the post. :)

Isn't there some freeware floating around that lets you adjust fan speeds? Maybe it just monitors the fan speeds, but I thought there was one that would let you change the rpm's.

I wish that this was true. Not sure if Speedfan works.

If there is, then well and good. But I would doubt that, since the Clevo fan speeds for example are controlled by the fan firmware that one would update through a CD when booting up. So it involved low level code, and specific to each particular laptop. So I believe it's your manufacturer that would have to provide you with something like that. :)

AW will have to release something in that regard...

    Bummer.

Double bummer. Maybe several of us can contact Alienware about making software (firmware?) adjustments so we can increase the fan speeds manually like the Clevo. It would be nice. If several people contact them, then maybe they'll take the request seriously instead of just putting it at the bottom of their "recommendations" box.

Yeah, I made a new thread in this section about Fan Control. If there's enough people then I'll contact AW. But, I'll need a lot of cooperation. Infact several people should contact AW.

AW is a boutique company and they need feedback from customers like us to improve their products.
