lol catchy title huh guys? XD
Anyways, about just over a month ago when Nebula Red was first available there wasn't much photos on it. I happened to order mine during that time and I promised I'd share some photos when I received it. Since then I got a defective unit which made the waiting longer and some users have already beaten me to it. But nonetheless I thought I should still keep to that promise and post some pics. I also wanted to write a review but there's already so much out there you guys know all about the M17x already so I'll just comment on the color. Btw, sorry I don't know how image attachment works in NBR so please bare with attachments >< , I'll post links for quick reference)

When I first chose Nebula Red I was confused about how well it would integrate with AlienFX. Lets talk about the Lid cover first. Unlike Black and Silver which goes well with almost every color lighting, Red was a little more picky. For example, Red and Red light is not effective at all.... while red and green light(for example) looks not so great. Surprisingly Blue worked out for me and I quite like it.

Now lets talk about the main AlienFX areas, the interior. Again, when I decided on the Nebula Red I was thinking "aww man...are other colors gonna look bad on it?" . Surprisingly though, AlienFX is pretty subtle. It's not a beaming glittering light saying "LOOK AT ME!" , but a nice faint glow. In the picture you can see that I got carried away and made my keyboard rainbow color which I would've thought looked a bit queer before I received the unit but now that I have the unit it's not that bad at all. Maybe one reason for this is because I don't see that much red chassis when I'm facing my M17x.
ASIAN KEYBOARD ANYONE?? XD

Again, blue lighting for the speakers don't bother me at all, looks cool actually.

Another purchase concern I had with the Nebula Red was... which SHADE of red was it? I was hoping for a dark metallic blood red, not a bright matte red. I think the Alienware website doesn't portray the red color as well as it could (just personal comment here). But when I received the unit, wow I think the shading's just fine. The photo above was with FLASH and usually even in bright lit rooms there's still a nice red wine shade to it. 10/10 for Adamo factor.

Lastly I'd just like to mention how big the M17x is lol... Beside it is my 22" monitor (please excuse the messy table). But it looks awesome and I'm totally willing to carry this unit around despite its size. The Red outline when its opened is very nice and my original concerns about AlienFX were redundant.
Thanks for reading this. If anyone would like other angles taken please feel free to ask.
Have a nice day!

Thanks for providing pics. Maybe lemon will get off my back now
And, again, the red is SO much different in person than in pics. It is MUCH nicer up close and is quite metallic. -
Nice pics.

Another person on this forum who originally got a defective unit? Sorry to jump off topic here but I wish I knew the percentage of people who got a solid working unit that operates as promised. 25% 50%? Im going to buy a new m15x either way but I'm beginning to worry.

Thanks guys for the feedback, I forgot to upload a photo of the rear, I will do that once I head home from work.
@Uroboros: The reason behind the defect was the battery had a bad connector. The unit itself works fine. I think I'm the first in the forum to experience this problem. As Balzertrek50 mentioned, 90% of the people are having a good time with their unit
By the way, if anyone is interested in which bags fit the M17x, many of you may of came across the Belkin 17" Messenger Bag. This is indeed a very nice bag but it JUST fits the M17x and its adapter (I will post pics of the fit). You will need to open the bag right up and use a bit of effort to slide in the M17x low enough to zip up the bag itself. Power adapter fits in the front pocket but also requires a bit of effort.
Don't think about adding anymore items though XD -
its a very nice shade of red but for some reason like with the m17 I think black is the best color-with red lights. My dream alienware is still something in blue or like the 19inch malx lappy they did awhile back.

So what color is the nebula red really like?
Blood red? Candy red? apple red? kit-kat red? -
Why don't your start a simple poll.
Did you have any defective hardware on your M17x
Yes
No
I would be curious to know as well.
Oh and back OT nice looking notebook there azelexx, I'm sure you'll be very happy with it. -
@lemonspeaker: haha if blood was made of metal it would be what this shade looks like
@Doomy: Thanks doomy, I'm very happy with it. Tried GTA IV and Red Alert 3 all on high settings and native resolution. Runs smoothly even with just one 260GTX!
Guys, here's the back of the M17x and how it fits into the Belkin 17" Messenger bag. Because the fit is so tight I used the alienware fabric wrap that came with the unit so that the machine doesn't rub with the zip.
Back of M17x:
M17x in Belkin Messenger (the power cable WILL fit inside the bag lol incase you're wondering)

red for me is far too flashy, considered it quite a bit before buying it.
Glad you like it and take a look at some of the swissgear bags, they may fit it with room to spare if your wanting to carry more -

I daresay I like the Asian keyboard....it gets rather cumbersome typing Chinese text with an IME....
-
Yeah, the Asian Keyboard looks pretty nice. It's the first time I've seen a such clear a photo of one.
-
Better yet, would be the Alien Karet font
I'd be proficient in Alienese in no time! lol -
lol yeah the asian keyboard is pretty cool. I ordered my M17x from Taiwan so I could get the keyboard.
@Rich Kid: The lid does take a bit of effort to open, when I try to open with one hand the entire notebook gets lifted. I have to hold the base with the other hand. The fan gets pretty intense as well when the notebook reaches above 60 degrees Celcius during gaming but it REALLY does keep the GPU cool (max temperature when playing GTA IV , high settings , native res , 67 degrees Celcius). I always close my lid with my hands on so I don't notice the 1 inch slam phenomena...
