Well, I've exhausted about everything I can think of and everything people have tried to help me with to fix my freezing problems (absolutely sure it's my 8800m gtx).
I'm still waiting on an email from a tech friend. I'll try the "oven trick" once I absolutely decide there's nothing else I can do.
My current budget isn't happy with $350-400 to get an upgrade (9800) from AW so I was wondering if there's anyone who has upgraded and still has their old 8800m or something else that would fit in my m15x. I'd be able to work with anyone in the US or Europe.
I'm just trying to see what kind of options I have. Thanks in advance.

Post this in the NBR market. More people will see it.

get a GTX 260 or 280

You can't get the 260 or 280 for the m15x. The wattage is different and wouldn't work with the system.
He either needs to get the same card or wait for the 4870 which is supposed to be 65watts (the same as the 8800mgtx), which will also be a better graphics card. -
LMAO it does work some body jus put a 280 in there so please get your facts straight

there the 280 runs just fine just a little to hot... so i would say get a GTX 260 -
I would say this Buy a 9800gt which is basicly the same as the 8800gtx. Having someone with issues and having them upgrade to something faster could make the problem worse and a useless computer.
If I was you check this site http://www.mxm-upgrade.com/ and mybe call alienware for new heatsink fan just to be on the safe side. -
I also checked out the MXM site you linked, but wasn't sure exactly what you wanted me to check out from there. A new heatsink/fan maybe? They didn't seem to have any cards for sale listed that would be equal to my 8800 gtx though. -
rjtech sells them eurocom(overpriced
look for resellers they will be able to sell you the cards
Need 8800m GTX or equivalent
