Today I lifted up my m17x and found that there are lots of dust accumulated on the vent grill where the fans are located. Hmmm...I think that is why my fans are running loud lately. Anyways, I want to clean it, I am thinking about using moist cloth to rub out the dust and let gravity pulls down the aggregate. Or should I open up the grill and use air dust can?

    Please give advice.

Thank you very much in advance :)

Use a vacuum cleaner on medium power. That's what I do for my laptop.

My fiance bought it for me at christmas and I was very sceptical till I tried it, my laptop keyboard looked almost new after I'd cleaned it.

I can tell you all about dust! This place has to be the dustiest place in the world. Not good for my M17x.

Because of all the dust here, I find I need to use compressed air (Dust Off is the only brand we can buy here) like candy.
Every other day, I give a quick spray-down. About every five days or so, I give a thourough cleaning. I turn the unit upside down, spraying into the bottom GPU vents. That blows out most of the dust right there, followed by the CPU vent. Then I spray the side vents. After that, I spray the vents in the back as well as the back of the laptop. Lastly, I spray the bottom GPU vents one more time then visually inspect inside, if I still see dust, I repeat.
Tedious, yes, but it does keep my M17x free from dust, and Iraq is an extremely dusty country.

Do you open up before spraying? I mean if you spray it upside down, wouldnt the dust go into the components?

from what I have observed, the dust blows out the back vents when I spray in the bottom. Based on the size of the clouds, I would say most is going out.
