    Hi All,

So first off let me say i love m m15x, i've only had a few minor problems with it and i love it, now to the problem:

Around the end of April i started to have problems with my HDMI port. After a few calls to Tech support and after the agent using AlienContact, it was determined that HDMI Card was or possibly the vid card was bad and that i needed to send it to be repaired if it was the hdmi card (vid card i would replae myself). So I shipped it out on April 28th.

I called the next day and decided to upgrade a few things, since it would already be at the depot and I plan on keeping the laptop for another 1.5-2 years. I upgraded the processor to X9000 and the vid card to 9800m GT.

I received my laptop back on May 11th and as always when I receive products test it out to make sure everything is ok. However, I noticed that they did fix the HDMI port but did not do the upgrades (neither the vid card, nor the processor). So i called Tech Support immediately and they apologized and asked me to send it back right away. I Shippped it back on May 13th and it was received at the depot in Houston, TX on May 14th.

Since then I have been calling for updates as to what is taking so long as it's been over a month now. The only thing they keep saying is that they are waiting on the video card over and over again. This is where I am getting really annoyed because it should not take over a month to just get the video card. I not sure what to do now, because that is the only thing they keep telling me and it cannot possibly take that long.

I really like the laptop and I hate being the angry customer, but i'm not sure what to do. All my other experiences with their Tech Support have been wonderful. Any advice you guys have as to who I can contact or what I should do would be greatly appreciated.

    - Syth

    Hi Syth,
It sounds like your new video card has fallen into backorder. It is entirely possible for a video card to be on backorder longer than a month. Is it possible for them to send your laptop back and ship you the video card when it does come in?

Hrmm I did not think about that. I'll try calling them tomorrow and seeing if they could put the 8800M GTX back in and then ship the 9800m GT when it is in stock.

And wow I didn't know it could take that long to wait for the video card. I guess I'm really more disappointed then mad, because using my T61 or Inspiron 9300 just does not compare to the m15x :(

Why would you go from the 8800 to the 9800?

It's basically the same card and you'll end up spending $400 or whatever they charge for the same card!

Could you just send me $400 and I'll call your card a "9800GT"? lol

Some of the benches I've seen had the 9800 running slightly cooler, but oh well, guess I was mistaken. Still I don't mind, it was bonus money and it was only 250, which is a night of beer.

In my opinion you should have them send the card so that you can do the upgrade yourself. But only if you are confident that you won't mess up
    your m15x.

I have no problem with replacing the vid card myself. I did it before, it's very simple. I just never thought of asking them to put the old card back in and sending me the new one when it finally comes in.
