Hey guys, im new to these forumsI just bought my M17x about a month ago, from the very minute i turned it on i loved this thing, its absolutely gorgeous. However, when i first bought it, i noticed something that would get on my nerves, which would be the amazingly slow minimizing to maximizing in games such as WoW and CS 1.6/Source. It is instant for minimizing, but for maximizing to full screen takes a good 30+ seconds. However, in-game performance is not affected, i get a full 150+ FPS in Ironforge mid-day on a high-population server, with 100fps in CS1.6 with 5+ smoke grenades
.
My specs are -
Q9000 Quadcore 2.4ghz (OC)
Dual GTX260m running SLI
6gb 1033 DDR3 memory
Windows vista 64bit
My main question is how do i fix my maximizing problem?
Other questions include (greatly appreciated if answered)
1. A weird fan noise on startup that lasts for about 5 seconds, and then stops. However 2/3 times after i enter my password to my computer, it goes black screen and i have to restart, but i don't get the fan noise again.
2. Would windows 7 64bit change these problems without affecting in-game performance?
3. How often should i clean my fans?

Heya,
The pause when minimizing/maximising windows is a driver issue. In the latest driver set (195.62) it only takes about 2 seconds to switch back to WoW, and I think there's also another set of drivers that has fast switching if those don't work out (no one here's done much testing on temps/performance yet).
Other are more knowledgeable than myself and can answer your other questions better than I can. -
Hey thanks for the reply, when i try to install the drivers, it says - The Nvidia setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware setup, setup will exit.
Are certain drivers i have to install for 260s in sli? -
any suggestions on this?

Correct me if Im wrong but as I know the "old" driver on nVidia website somehow isnt compatible with M17x. You should try installing driver on Dell website or the latest 195 on nVidia website.
If you already tried those drivers then no, I dont know how to solve your problem.
And remember to enable both integrated and discrete GPU and uninstall your current driver before installing new driver.
Need help ! M17x problem
