Hello i have been testing my new system and it is perfect, CF is working and no problem whatsoever.

However im a bit afraid ill mess stuff up if i try to upgrade to catalyst 10.4, A05 bios and stuff.... my question is, do i really need to update these things because i find my system running just fine like it is (out of the box, with windows updates) - will i notice alot of improvement when and if i update these drivers?

If someone gives me detailed step by step instructions on how to install catalyst 10.4 (ive heard about the pain people are going through when installing it) and the A05 i will give + rep ofc!

    THX!

    I'd say if it's working - don't break it :)
If you're completely satisfied with the system, no need to install those.
What catalyst version are you using now, btw?

Well, newer graphics drivers can provide a significant boost in gaming performance. You should just be able to install 10.4 straight over what you're currently using without a problem.

I wouldn't worry about the BIOS update - yet.

But installing new drivers are usually painless, and as EviLCorsaiR points out, can improve game performance. If there are any issues with new drivers, you can always do a driver rollback.

I have no idea where i can find the version of the catalyst... all i find is the "driver version" and that says version: 8.680.2.0

and when i go dxdiag it says under "DDI Version" 10.1... maybe thats the catalyst version? dunno.

All i can say is that the version is the same as factory installed and the same as is on the utility CD i think.

Te problem my friend had when installing the 10.4 catalyst on his brand new m17x was that NOTHING happened after the installation finished, it looked like it installed correctly but when it was done it said something like: "Install successful but with a few errors" the install log didnt show anything to be concerned about... yet when he checked for the driver version it was the same as before running the catalyst 10.4 driver.... even after reinstall... he tried wiping out the old drivers and installing the newest afterwards but with no luck, CCC didnt want to install and yea... i dont want to go through that trouble unless someone gives me detailed instructions lol.
