Looks sooooo ugly, lol the attempt to copy the Alienware Keyboard XD
MSI gets a SteelSeries keyboard, builds the GX780 gaming notebook around it -- Engadget

I think it is beautiful. And it is made of aluminum, well atleast the lid and the palmrest.
Also, there is two from MSI that have GTX 560M that is up for preorder
MSI GT780R
MSI GT683R

lol yeah it is pretty ugly but most MSI laptops are.
-
It looks pretty alright to me. Nowhere near the aesthetics of the M17x but compared to other gaming laptops pretty cool.
-
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.. I like it!
But I'm weird; I like clunky/sturdy looking laptops.
If I felt the desire for a 17 + inch notebook, I'd consider it. I'm pretty happy with ultra portables, or a desktop, not a big fan of everything in between, so far anyway. -
Personally I think the Asus G73's look a lot better and so do Clevos. Of course nothing comes close to Alienware.
-
Two things that annoy me though.
1. It only have 1 fan for the entire system. But it have turbo mode that cools of the laptop pretty efficient. And it have dual exhaust, so it could be very effective. I never owned a MSI before so i don`t know.
2. It have that type of keyboard with space between the buttons. Can`t remember the name -
I like it. Looks sexy as hell!
-
I have heard of the keyboard as "island" style. All the dumb macbooks use it. I prefer chicklet style.
-

Chiclet/island style is the same thing. Everything else is just referred to as a "standard" keyboard. -
Yeah chiclet was the name i was looking for.
-
I actually think it looks nice. Mind you no one should compare the Alienware keyboards with anything else, just as no one should compare the Apple touch-tech with anything else.
-
It looks nauseating. The wedge shape just doesn't do it for me. Infact, the whole thing is just a big monument to design failure.
Burn it !!! -
Ugly as hell. Cheap looking too.
-
QTF.
I don't think there will be any laptop that will look cooler than Alienware....
The AW laptops are just so awesome....
-
So much branding...................
-
How does this have a gtx 560M? im pretty sure that card doesnt exist.... MSI GT780R 17.3" FHD/NV GTX 560M 1.5GB GDDR5/Core i7-2630QM/12GB DDR3/1TB 7200rpm/ Pre-Order: GenTech PC Store
-
Asus already revealed GTX560m like 2months ago, it's coming and i expect it to be offered with m17x R3 and M18X once Alienware use all of the GTX460 they have, GTX560m itself though is a rebranded GTX460m.
-
I personally don't like it at all.
-
I think the design is not so cool - the elegant brushed metal finish near the palm rest mismatches with the tapered shape of the laptop. Also the oversized "MSi" logo below the screen and the particular red wallpaper in that picture doesnt help either!
I am always a fan of the solid-block finish of Alienware, especially my m15x!
-
I personally like it but I'd want to know how well it cools. I may consider it. I want a new 17" so I can pass my R1 to my son. The M18x is so far out of my price range that I can't even consider it.
-
Wait a minute, didnt MSI make the old AW laptop cases, like the M9750? At least I saw where they are reselling that case now.
-
No it is not. GTX 460M is GF106 while GTX 560M is GF116. 560M offers the same amount of shaders as 460M but is clocked higher.
560M is right around the corner. XoticPC had also it listed on their website but had to take it down due to NDA.

I actually kind of like it. Sure it could do with with some touch ups but for the most part it's got a style remeniscent of the major brands. It just needs something to set itself apart, but it's really not that terrible.
How do the 560m's compare to the 460m's and 485m's? Are they something worth waiting for as an alternative to the 485s? -

It looks decent. I'm glad MSI is stepping it up. Competition is a good thing.
-
I think its kinda nifty looking. Not anywhere as good as an Alienware in my opinion. I am all for laptop companies trying to make new original looking cases. So tired of the stale old look.
-
485M is much better. 560M performance is everything from 15%-30% over 460M i`m guessing. 560M is taking over for the 460M and we will see 460M disappear since they cost the same. Nobody knows yet because nvidia have not released any details about it. 560M should have the same TDP as 460M because the new GF116 is more efficient.

I really like the MSI laptops they have great features and hardware, however I have to agree they should of stayed with a traditional white LED backlight
-
That 17" MSI is looking better and better lately.... I think its the screen thats really tugging on my heart strings >_< damn alienware for not offering the RBG screens anymore!

If I was in the market for a gaming notebook, this would be a rather tempting choice.
I'd be interested to compare the Dynaudio speakers in this to the Klipsch speakers in the new Alienwares.
Anybody else digging the keyboard? I use a SteelSeries mouse/mousepad, I've also tried their keyboards and liked them. I think this is their first attempt at doing a notebook keyboard. -
MSI has gorgeous laptops, however what they don't have (and are need in order to skyrocket sales) is a better warranty service.
Their gaming laptops come with 1 year global and thereafter, 1 year nationwide warranty, however the USER has to PAY to get it shipped to the repair center and they take weeks to fix it (took 5 weeks to replace my keyboard).
Although they're tempting, I always keep this memorable warranty experience in the back of my mind
I've heard their speakers before ...I'd say they're #1 and will trump any competition in the laptop speaker market
-
Wow. Damn, that thing is ugly. They might have been trying to copy Alienware, but it looks closer to a Toshiba.
Then again, nothing could be that ugly. -
LOL the laptop seem to have a love or hate design
-
The design does look like those toshiba gaming laptops. I feel that if they want it to stand out, at least give the design a more consistent theme (like how the AW laptops have a signature look). Or, make it thinner, very low-key looking, and yet manage to pack a sh*t ton of hardware into it. Then I might put it on my buy list.
-
I love the brushed aluminum.
-
Doesn't look bad IMO, no where near as cool as alienware though
-
I don't know how anyone could be at a store and say to themselves, yeah that's the one I want!
Qosmio is hideous! This MSI isn't as bad as the toshiba I only see one pic though. -

I've always had a soft spot for MSI laptops. Glad to see they're going with a more colorful GX motif AND finally backlit keyboards.
Nothing is as ugly and hideous as the Qosmio's.....
......nothing. -

I loved the design of the Qosmio X305. To bad it didn't come in blue.
-
I'm buying it as soon as it's available and handing over my M17xR1 to my son. Even with the newest bios, I'm having stuttering so it is time for it to be passed on and he'll love it of course because he'll be able to play all of his games on it and in HD. Haven't told hubby yet, lol. I'll spring it on him when it arrives.
-
The Qosmio X305 was the laptop that got me into gaming!
never would have found Alienware with out it. Got me wanting more much more.

The first time I saw the X305 I was like wow!! That's a BEAST!!
