Oh, is that the Logitech G9 with the alienhead stuck on it and with alien lights?

Yeah. Tons of people have been waiting for it. I was hoping they would have a wireless one with a nano receiver but no such luck. I will therefore stick to my Nano VX.

    Looks cool though.

It looks nice, I especially like the customizable lighting. Any idea on the price? I got the email but when I clicked the mouse picture, it brought me to Dell's website and all that was listed was the headset and Monitor.

About time! The best feature of these devices is AlienFX, which works in conjunction with the AlienFX in their notebooks/desktops.

How much is the mouse? IMO just get a Logitech G9, lights are still customisable and you can take the grip off and put a rough one on for extra grip while gaming. And does that one have a customisable weight cartridge?

You can STILL change the lights of the G9, through its control center.

If G9 is ~$100 how is Alienware TactX Mouse only $45. Did anyone confirm that it has the same HW as the G9 without the changeable grip attachments?

Yes it's the same hardware. It's actually the same hardware as the G9x. Up to 5000dpi (G9 only goes up to 3200dpi...although who the hell could cope with more than that I don't know), select between 5 profiles, 4 way hyperfast scroll-wheel, and a DPI selector.

    It also looks extremely similar.

From what I see the only two things it doesn't have and the G9/G9x does is an interchangeable grip and a customisable weight cartridge.

For $45 that's a good deal. I bought my G9 for only $60 though so it's not a huge difference.

I can say that if it's based largely on the G9 which it appears to be, then it's a damn good mouse.

I do like the mouse, but I already invested in G7 which is an awesome wireless mouse, only problem is I am kind of sick of charging these 2 batteries.

But if this mouse is like G9 but with Alienware branding it is a very good deal.

I insist. They should have made a wireless version for both. Now my money will go to the Dinovo Edge Keyboard. No new mouse yet.

I'm sure lots of us use our computers in the living room on an HDTV... They do look nice tho.

Yeah, I'd probably buy one if it was wireless, maybe even the keyboard too.

The one thing stopping me from buying a wireless keyboard for HDTV gaming is that I have only one TV in my house with HDMI or even VGA for that matter (all others are standard component HD, which the M17x lacks) and that TV doesn't even support 1080p......

I see your point however I think they target hardcore gamers and they (for the most part) go for wired peripherals for max accuracy

Yeah but how much more accurate can a wired mouse really be over a wireless one? I notice no lag or anything like that whatsoever using my wireless mouse....

Oh yeah. They are marketing this to hardcore gamers. Too bad I am not really one of them. Man I would be all over this keyboard if it were wireless.

Now that I think about it, what they should have done since these are really Logitech items is use that new unifying nano receiver. Now that would be nice. One unifying nano receiver for the AW mouse and the AW keyboard.

    *sigh*

My wireless mouse I bought about 3 years ago was $50 and it's no where near as nice as this new one.

Depends what mouse you get. I had G5 and got the wireless G7... and didn't notice ANY difference what so ever so it all depends on the wireless mouse that you use.

Speaking of G7, so i cracked and ordered the Alienware one and now have G7 for sale prob.

    Hi guys,

I use my XBOX 360 controller for PC-gaming but I recently purchased a Razer Deathadder just for everyday use and it is mind-blowing. I am over the moon with my purchase and cant understand why all gamers dont have one of these...I know they are popular amongst gamers but Ive never heard anything mentioned about them on here....how do you guys rate Razer?

    Im thinking of buying this soon;

    http://www.razerzone.com/gaming-mice/razer-mamba/

now that is a mouse! Razer Mamba.

    1. No ability to change DPI whatsoever compared to the G9/AW mouse with 5 hot-swappable DPI settings

    2. No changeable weight cartridge, unlike the G9

    3. Much more expensive than the AW mouse, which is better than the DeathAdder for reason of swappable DPI among others

oh so this mouse is a good mouse I take it.....I just dont like it being called an Alienware mouse when its made by someone else....seems like cheating to me...LOL
The price is good though for this mouse which is strange by Alienware standards.
Now I dont use the deathadder mouse for gaming...well just for HAWX so the DPI question doesnt bother me really.

So I take it you guys are not Razer fans then? you could have told me that before I purchased...LOL
I still like the look of that Razer Mamba.

    cheers.

There are differences between the G9 and the AW so this does appear to be an all-new mouse.

If Razer really were hardcore gamers then they'd know the ability to change DPI is crucial.

I have to say the Razer Goliathus is a damn good mousemat. I'm a fan of the Razer mousemats I have to say :p

I have always noticed a slight delay with wireless. May not be much but it happens..Also nothing sucks more than when the batteries die in the middle of use. Like a raid or fight and they just go dead.. It annoys me when this happens with people in groups... now for first person shooters, i just pwn them when it happens and laugh..

I prefer wired.. Wireless is just more convenient when traveling ect.

Most mice don't do it at all. If you can change it through the software then fair enough but it's more convienient to be able to cycle through 5 settings on the mouse itself, and I can set it to anything from 200-3200 DPI.

If you can change it via software then it's not as bad as I thought it was. (Well, all right not 'bad' just 'not as good' as the G9.)

If it was available when I was seacrhing for a mouse the other week then I would most probably have bought this mouse.

Yeah, it's available on the AW mouse. Switch between 5 DPI settings (I think it's 5 at least if it's similar to the G9...might just be 3) each of which you can dictate in between 200 and 3200.

The laptop spends most of its time on a table or desk anyway so wires really aren't a problem for me. The M17 is not the kind of thing you take to a Wi-Fi spot.
