Okay, the latest command center (1.028) is back in MyHive so i decided to give it a try.
I installed the 3.5 Frameworks, then the Webcam Driver (3.625) and finally the new CC. The installation goes without any problem but when I launch the CC, i only have the AlienFX and AlienTouch icons at the bottom. I guess something went wrong because AlienSense is missing and clicking on AlienTouch doesn't do anything, but AlienFX works fine.
Thanks for the help.
I'm on Windows XP SP3 32bit.
EDIT : Okay, i've managed to get the AlienTouch to work by reinstalling the touchpad drivers. No clue yet for AlienSense.

I was having a hard time getting the facial login to work, so I deleted my picture. Not knowing how to get a new picture databased, I deleted command center and re-installed. Now it simply states that it's starting up, and I have to use my password or finger print to log in. Once logged in, AlienSense says it has received and update and needs a restart. I restart, but nothing changes. I've just finally deleted command center altogether.

Mixen, please do the following. You may skip parts #1, #2, and #3 if you have already done them. Make sure that the webcam driver update is installed after you have installed the newer version of the Alienware Command Center and not before that.
#1. Uninstall the old version of Alienware Command Center.
#2. Install .NET Framework 3.5.
#3. Install the new version of the Command Center.
#4. Install the Webcam Driver Update.
#5. Locate FAAWElevator.dll in your AlienSense folder (C:\Program Files\Alienware\Command Center\AlienSense\) and copy it to your Command Center folder (C:\Program Files\Alienware\Command Center). The FAAWElevator.dll file should now be both in the AlienSense and Alienware folder.
#6. Restart.
#7. You should be able to configure AlienSense now.
- Credits to findvikas for the solution.
It takes a few logins for it to entirely learn and recognize your face. To make the process faster, I'd say you lock + login a few times (using the window key + L) until it's able to log in using your face. -
Okay, trying it now. Will post back in a few.
-
Okay, well no luck. There's no AlienSense in my CC but alienfx and alientouch works fine. However, at Windows logging screen, there is something called FastAccess and a little picture area with some text written in red (sorry i can't do a PrintScreen of the logging screen):
something like : "**INVALID LICENSE KEY. FastAccess version 2.2.14. FastAccess is disabled."
There is also a little checkbox "Show image" that i can enable or disable but it doesn't do anything when i change its state. I'm pretty sure all this is related to AlienSense but still, AlienSense doesn't even appear in the CC. -
yeah, that's part of AlienSense.
question: if you go into your device manager, do you see an entry for "facap, Fast Access Video Capture" under "image processing devices" (or something like that, my OS is set to german, so i don't know exactly what it's called english)? -
-
I suggest you try to uninstall it and then reinstall it using this.
It's kind of odd how it doesn't want to work for you, but it works for me and I'm using the same OS as you are.
Edit: You do have the OSD Utility installed, right? -
On a side note, which driver of the webcam do i need? The one in MyHive under the Command Center section (filename:Webcam_FA_x32.exe) is only 196kb and executing it doesn't do anything (like no setup screen, instructions, etc.) So i don't really know if the setup actually did something or installed something... Anyways, manually extracting the file will give me devcon.exe.
Yeah the OSD Utility is already installed. -
I'm not exactly sure what the Webcam Driver Update does but it did get my camera working with AlienSense. The face recognition thing would refuse to run and it didn't run without that patch.
Odd. I'm trying to figure out what's different about your OS or your m15x in general that's causing AlienSense to not even show up for you. I might just be overlooking something. -
OKay i just noticed that there is a "Configure AlienSense" shortcut in the start menu folders. When i click on it, it launches Command Center with the following error :
Sorry The application AlienSense can not be launched. Would you like to continue loading Command Center?
Not much of a clue of what is wrong but at least there is an error message :|. Anyways i'm out for the night, thanks for your efforts, Oceanus. -
I was also having a minor problem with the new CC. It was constantly trying to locate a particular file in the registry that isnt even listed....im debating to revert back to Command Center 1017. I dunno if this problem was already listed somewhere else but with my luck i couldnt find it

Aha! I know that one. Kazpa, try the fix below and tell me if it works. The error code is the same as yours, except I did some tweaking so it'd show the actual logging of that error code (that's kind of why the error code below shows a tad more than the one you've posted.)

Does that only happen when you try to boot onto the Vista x64 Installation CD?
-
yea....i had no problem reinstalling the AW xp sp3, but when I tried installing vista it would always show up after I entered the 25 key number.
-
this was a copy given from IT from work
-
If I install the SP1 version I got the same "Invalid License" and cannot start alien sense. I tried everything i found at the board but nothing....seems that nobody knows the answer?

Command Center v. 1028 (x32) -
Is that the Version you can find at MyHive? I already tried that
Edit:
Sry for the delay I'm in germany -
This one's an modified (updated) version of 1028. I'm not too sure if they have it in the Germany Alienware MyHive, but this is pretty recent.
-
same problem....
-
I'm sure Findvikas had this issue before. The command center I gave you should have already addressed the issue. Did you make sure you installed it in this order?
#1. .NET Framework 3.5
#2. Command Center
#3. FA Webcam Update (x32) -
I'll try again when i finished the other setup which is running atm but yes i tried it
-
sry got some other problems here + dinnertime + ...
I'll try it tomorrow -
Didn't work. I installed the old CC now. Hopefully they will release a better version soon. Thank you for your help
-
so the new CC has problems...huh.
I'm using CC 1033 (x64) with no problem on my x64 vista ultimate
I found a page regarding on the order of the apps should be installed on alienware for all mobile systems might be helpful.
http://4help.alienware.com/cgi-bin/...3RleHQ9aW5zdGFsbCBvcmRlcg**&p_li=&p_topview=1 -
i installed all like that order but that is not the problem
-
After that I never looked back and decided to upgrade from Command Center to AuroraLightsFX. You can find that in my signature "AlienFX Tools" -
a guy on a german forum gets this error:

after installing XP Pro. any ideas? -
Can you please translate that for me...
-
oops... forgot that bit
-
DevCon is command line EXE, exactly when he is getting this error. Is he running devcon himself or is it being executed by some other program?
-
always when starting up or shutting down the system. he keeps implying there's some sort of connection with the webcam driver and the facial login feature. don't know if that helps.
-
ehmm....
Let him download Process Explorer from here
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx
After startup once he get the error message ask him not to click OK, instead launch Task Manager, in the Application's Tab look for error message window, right click there and go to process. remember the process name and launch the process explorer
Inside the process explorer look for the process and double click it, go to properties page and see what command line was passed to this command.
Devcon is basically a program which helps you in automating driver installation & other sort of driver tasks on the fly. -
ok, forwarded that to him. hope he gets it right, bit a n00b to be honest.
-
we all are... that's what keep us motivated
-
hehe yeah. ok, turns out the issue only shows up when shutting down, so he doesn't have enough time to check out the command line in process explorer. here are some pics he made, are they any help?

anyone have a link for the vista 64 version?
-
Alien FX dont working on my dont find Files and so ist empty ;(
-
-
Not exactly... apart from the fact that its been executed by FAService.exe
He should be able to reproduce this error by stop/start the FAService (FastAccess) service under Run->services.msc
Could you ask him to try this ??? -
no need - we managed to solve the problem last night. turns out he was always using the files/apps from the AW-provided drivers disc, instead of the new ones from the mini-MyHive here. after installing the updated versions, notably the OSD, everything started working perfectly.
