Just found this today, fresh new version!
http://support.dell.com/support/dow...1&impid=-1&formatcnt=1&libid=25&fileid=334331
I will load it up on my machine (Windows 7 Pro x64 - RTM) and see if it does anything besides just Touch and FX)
And could this foretell an A03 BIOS soon?!

Awaiting some updates on this find dude. +1
Would this only be for 7 or Vista too? I'm still using Vista until I get the 7 disk.
Must spread some rep first ...Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -

it says both and it loaded without a hitch in 7
I got all 4 features now and did not have to do any compatibility or run as admin to install it. Looks like this was the long awaited Windoes 7 Command Center. This is the same as the one for the M15x it looks like as well (from Dell's site) -

AlienFX is MUCH better here...AND IT HAS WHITE!
The "model" system in the visual has a red chassis now too
Alien Sense (the face tracking) now has a taskbar icon as well (and hopefully much better performance)
So far it shows the button for Alien Fusion but clicking it does not actually do anything -
Thats awesome that they actually came out with it before Windows 7 comes out. I thought I was going to have to go command centerless for a few weeks when I got my disk in +1
-
Nice find! Downloading right now.
Has anyone noticed how aliensense was a little slow loading up for facial recognition on startup? Has this update fixed that? -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
just logged in with alien sense, was almost instant once the camera turned on
-
Can Aliensense be turned on or off? Or is it just automatic?
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
you can adjust what it is used for it used at all through a slider in the command center
One extreme is off, other is continual security -
^^Thanks, figured id ask since it was just brought up.

and in a less related note, those of you who got the blu ray READER for your M17x/M15x, there is a new firmware update lol
-
Anyone else having trouble loading up old themes in alienfx?
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
yep, none of them work
shame, I had a kicka$$ rainbow keyboard that glides across that was great for showing off the system haha -
That kind of sucks is there a way to create new themes that will work with the new command center
-
Is there anyway to get this without install the Dell download manager software? I hate adding software...
-
Nice find scook. rep+
Should I uninstall the old version before I install the new one? -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
I just installed over, worked fine
You can download via browser (the way everything else downloads) -
All righty...
-
Also, Aliensense works SOOOO much better now. Nice job Alienware! Before I was constantly getting biometric (or something like that) errors. Had to turn it off cause it was quicker to just type in the pass. -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
I agree, as long as my head is somewhat close to the laptop, it is instant
-
OK, thanks again for the update. Good to know the command center will now work on 7. I guess now there is no good reason not to upgrade.
Hope I receive my disk soon -
^ Is there any chance we could be getting our Windows 7 CD's sooner than 22nd?
-
awesome, gonna give win7 another bash, have the RC on seperate partition
-
That was disappointing...I was hoping this version would stop the "license key invaild" errors I get when trying to use Aliensense to log onto my computer as part of a domain.
It didn't. Hopefully the rest of the stuff will make up for that let down -
well you need to send me a theme file from the new command center and i will try to make sense of what has changed in this one ...
the colors are all in HTML format -
Please continue to use this thread for AlienFX themes. Existing themes will need to be reworked to comply with the changes made to the AlienFX controller. I will upload my revisions this weekend when I have time.

Allright guys, so I am SOL apparently. Downloaded new CC, was installing, had it dropped in the background, completely forgot about it, popped a DVD for Order of War in and had it auto-run and click on 'install' before thinking. The laptop apparently didn't like that, so closed both Setups with errors. The problem now is that anytime I try to run the CC install it gives me an error saying it can't find the .msi file (even if I manually browse to the folder in the Temp folder where it is contained) and I can't uninstall the OLD command center as it is apparently missing a file named 2ec54.msi that's suppsoed to be in C:\Windows\Installer.
How the hell can I clean the old CC off and get the new one installed? Would just start trying to delete everything manually, but wanted to see if maybe you guys had a better idea. -

did you try it in control panel? And it wont install from the file that downloads from dell's site? I was able to just install over the old one
-
That was what I was in the process of doing. But that got interrupted, it stopped the install with an error (which usually happens when you try to run two setup.exe's in my experience)- the issue is that now I can't install the new one and I can't uninstall the old one (from Control Panel or otherwise).
-
^Did you try to restore to an earlier time?
-
Yep. System restore to yesterday, still same problem. Can't find the .msi file (or rather, can find it but refuses to recognize it as valid) in the installer for the new one, and I found out that the file the uninstall for the old one is asking for points to the same location in the TEMP folder the install for the new one is looking for. Very sad....
-
My terrible experience with the new CC!!
(1) AlienFX says it can't detect my device anymore >< , after fresh installing twice, still the same problem. My keyboard is still lit with my previous theme, but I can't change it now.
(2) AlienFusion doesn't even work.....all I see is the background UFO with no interface
(3) AlienTouch gives me a "value is beyond blahblahblah value" error and CC crashes when I click ok
(4) AlienSense works.................that's about it.......
help! >< -
Did you install it over the older version?
-
the first time yes! Then I tried fresh install twice
-
I wonder if the problem you're having is related to AlienFX being disabled when you installed the new one? Was it disabled when you updated it?
-
nope~ I booted my M17x as per usual, saw the post on this forum , saw how excited people were , went to download...... double clicked..... and my nightmare began
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
Sorry to hear that. I have had 0 problems so far except for fusion being a dud button
-
Oh well. Just re-installed Windows 7.
Gave me a chance to do a clean update on all the drivers anyway. -
same thing happening to me as azelexx
says hardware not found for alienfx -
Zero problems here with the new one. All 4 functions work.
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
Do you have Alien Fusion in Windows 7 or in Vista WaR?
I believe the issues with Alien Fusion have all been in Windows 7 so far -
I have Fusion on Vista, disabled of course because it is my choice, but fully working. I just tried it.
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
I see, well we are left wanting in Windows 7 (unless you manage all of these settings yourself like I do)
-
yeah its just not working for me aye..... cleared registry and fresh installed and what not
sigh.... why do technology have to be so complicated -
I didn't know the M17x old alien fx didn't have white, when I saw it on my m15x afx I wondered why I hadn't seen it in pics before.
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
Ya white was added with this new version. It could be brighter but at least they tried lol
Must not be a white LED so it tries a combo of others, kinda weak -
It's why they didn't put it in the first place but people comPained so they added it just to shut them up. I have talked to couple people And this forum serves as dells testing ground
. They do read this and make notes.....
Least that's what I was told by couple aw and Dell employees -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
I would hope they are listening to us. Although if they are....why are we still banging our heads against walls trying to figure out the quad core stuttering?!
-
Megacharge Custom User Title
Yeah the AlienFX for me is still kinda pinkish, not quite white, and on a side note, not sure whats up with your M17x, but I've got an overclocked quad in mine and have zero stuttering issues.
-
Having the problem where it cant find the .msi file. very frustrating. arrrgh!!!
