I will try to keep updating the results as I just tried to put FX 3700M in Alienware M15x yesterday. Today/Next Day's task: OCZ Whitebook/Alienware M17 with FX 3700M!

1st impression, so far so good, temperatures are not bad.

I am still trying to get the 3DMark2006 running better coz my first try was about 6.5k. However, the GPU didn't seem to be fully utilized as well, max. 55C in 3DMark2006 testing. I am not sure if it's the driver's problem. The result of the Cinebench R10(64bit) is 3.8k. I went through 4.3k last night, which was exactly the same as the W700 did in notebookcheck.

The result of 3DMark2006 is here. However, as you can see the temperature of the GPU is just 65C, I am not sure what happened to the 3DMark2006. Not sure if it's supposed to be low because it's Quadro.

Not 15min., I bet I ran it twice with different drivers. I tried to use the same one as the notebookreview does with FX 3700M in their review, 176.95. I found 176.93, but I haven't tested that yet. Temperatures seemed higher for that driver, so now I am still using 182.47.

Do you find some reason about it?

Your 3Dmark2006 score is really low, almost looks like you might be in STEALTH mode. Make sure you are not running in Stealth mode and try it again. I hope this helps. God Bless :)

I was trying to look for the reason. I tried three different drivers.

    1. 176.93
    2. 182.05
    3. 182.47

They were giving me similar results. Weird.

I don't think it's the STEALTH mode because if it were, which I tried, it would have been even slower. I looked at RivaTuner but it's giving me the clocks less than the original specs. I need to get into it for a little bit. I got GTX 280M in another Alienware M15x of mine as well. Testing it now.

You have to remember that the 3700 is a quadro card, it will be best at doing CAD and similar stuff. Not so good at gaming, if you want it to perform better at games/3dmark you are going to have to flash the VBIOS.

Yeah, if you bought it to game, you lost. But I see Cinebench, so I don't think you did.

The funny thing is, please don't jump into the conclusion where the Quadro will not perform well in 3DMark2006. If you look at the review in

    http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-Quadro-FX-3700M.14962.0.html

It shows the 3DMark2006 has 11k. I said I got three drivers there and they are giving me the same results. If it's not in STEALTH mode, I think the driver/BIOS compatibility problem leads to the downclocking of the GPU.
