Hey, I just got a replacement seagate 500gb hd for my m17x and installed it. I've installed all drivers etc and the OS seems to be running slow. For example sometimes when I open my computer it takes a while to load, and dragging windows lags leaving trails etc. Any clue what would be causing this? I'm thinking maybe I should try reformatting again, unless there's another fix.

Could be lots of things. Check your free memory. Since you just installed it may also be Windows update running hard in the background. Regardless if it is an app you should be able to see it in task manager.

windows update isn't running, and there's plenty of free memory. Cpu usage under 10% and phys memory at like 25%

Are you running in Stealth Mode or some Low Power Mode by accident perhaps?

    Cheers
