So after reading all of the reviews I decided to plunge a few weeks ago and get an m11x. Works great so far- only complaint is the bottom quarter of the LCD has what I would call rather substantial light bleed. Is this typical from the panel or would it qualify as a defect? Ordered it with Dell 3 year CompleteCare - not sure how to classify this "issue" to them though.

It's almost as if something in the LCD is off balanced, the bleed disappears if you increase the angle by pushing the panel farther back (opening it more) but then the top appears very dim.

    I'll take pics later.

Just wondering if anyone else has similar issues, none of the reviews mentioned light bleed related issues at all.

Can you actually see it during normal use? I have no problems here.

Yeah when watching anything with dark scenes / dark colors it's quite bad.

    Here's a sample pic-

Keep in mind the camera is overcompensating and making it look worse than it is, but it's more or less accurate. There's a sweet spot/band dead in the center of the LCD then blacks look inverted or grey on the top/bottom respectively.

I'm not sure if all M11x panels have bleeding this bad but it's rather annoying for an $1100 laptop.

It's normal - these laptops have particularly nasty viewing angles. Anything "off center" - and that's what you'll end up with.

Yep, I have to view the screen from an angle because the laptop is placed lower than me. If the lid was straight 90 degrees with the keyboard, the viewing angles are horrible.

hehehhe star trek, if you want to properly check out a display correctly then you have to use the rgbled pics that are here on this website, it really makes any screen pop, also i love mass effect 2 i got to expansion pack for it just haven't unrared or anything been so so busy. Been thinking of getting this machine more and more just not fond of that su7300.
