    New M15x not coming with Bluetooth?

    Okay, I can confirm that my laptop did NOT have a bluetooth card. Some hardware tech rep that Dell sent to my house brought a new one & installed it and now all is well. I'm amazed how they could miss something like this in my $1700 laptop but such is life. Anyway, just wanted to let you know that I was the victim of a missing bluetooth card.

    Hmm... should I get a dell tech to come over to my house and install it for me even though I don't think I'll ever use the bluetooth card? hmm =S

    Hmm okay I guess I'll get a tech to come over. They'll come at a specific time you tell them to come at, right? ( My parents won't let me have a stranger come in the house, even a ' tech ' when they're not around. )

    Definitely have them install it. Especially if, down the road, you want to sell it for the someday eight core M15x!

    I went through this issue, here's my feedback on the experience:

    Pro: 1. Nagshead all the way. Fast in answering PMs, submitted my case to Support for me, followed up afterwards. 2. BT card was Fedexed NDA.

    Cons: 1. It took over a week for Alienware to ship the BT card, so it only arrived today. 2. I have to install it myself it seems. 3. When I called Alienware support, I was waiting for 38 minutes just to talk to someone about the situation and trying to confirm the card had shipped. After talking to the guy in support, I was put on hold for another 10 minutes and only then I got the data I needed. 4. The card came today and outside the bag it came in there is a label that reads "REFURBISHED". WTH? poor experience overall. You'd expect more from a company that got $4000 for a laptop.

    there is a sticky posted on the Dell Community forum under the Alienware thread which explains the origin of the problem: missing BT only affects North American units where the BT module should have been listed as an option but was mistakenly listed as standard. Unless specified in the order as an option, the factory did not install it but people could not identify it as an option because it was not listed as such... Dell will honor all systems with missing BT units and issue a BT module for anyone calling in with their tag number as people have described above.
    Going forward, Dell either makes the BT unit standard and adjusts the price of each laptop or changes the website so it shows up as an option. Bottom line, the BT module is good if you use it, many do not -- either way its a $20 part on a $1700 to $4000 unit.

    My bluetooth card came today.Shipped a week after order is placed.Looks new to me.Called support and after a hold of nearly 2 hours finally spoke with rep. who kept an order for tech to come home and install it.

    By the way why is alienware tech support so horrible.I was never able to get through less than 45 min. hold.Looks worse than regular dell support.This was supposed to be laptop which has premier support instead looks worse to me

    I think it's insane that Bluetooth would have even been an option & not standard for a laptop that's $1500 bare bones. I'm glad to see that now it's standard -- as is one of the best wireless cards.

    My card was shipped overnight & some dude for Unisys (I think) came by to install it. He was 1 1/2 hrs late but I finally have my card. Regardless, tech support does stink & I think needs to be improved. I remember when Dell stepped up support for their most expensive line, XPS, & promoted how XPS support was US-based. Wish they did the same for the AW line.

    Sigh... I'm expecting mine not to come with BT since I do not see a line item for it in the order conf email.

    My M15x arrives this Friday Nov. 20.. I can't wait =)
