    New M15x replacement anytime soon?

    It seems to me that the M15x is long overdue for an upgrade to the Montevina platform, at least. Is there any news in the rumor mills about when or if this might happen?

    The Area-51 M15x will be replaced by the Area-58 M15x shortly. It is montineva based.

    Heh, I'm afraid that it will have to be pretty soon... I'm betting they're losing a crapload of market share because they are still using such an old platform. I know that I haven't bought the M15x solely because it's outdated. If it had everything it had now (even with only the current graphics card selection) + Montevina, it would be a lot more competitive.

    Hmm... I wouldn't be so sure. If Alienware releases a new 15" soon, it will probably have at LEAST something as powerful at the GTX260. Also, I bet it will be smaller, lighter, sturdier, more upgradeable, and with better battery life than anything comparable by Asus (not to mention a host of other little features that will likely be missing from the Asus). :)

    But price... that's a different matter.

    hmmm good points =) but uhh hopefully the price wont be too bad with dell...
    but does any1 seriously know a due date for a new 15''?

    I would estimate sometime in September or October of this year. Gives the new M17X a nice head start. Just my guess. God Bless :)

    A new 15x in the anodized aluminum case would be great. Would probably solve that hinge problem upgrading the case and the more powerful internal parts as well are great. But if it's months away I'm gonna have to go with an m17x.

    I also wish there would be a new m15x... My college wants me to get a Macbook Pro but I'm stubborn and see no reason why I can't use a PC. So I've been hanging around here trying to get as much info as I can on the m15x. I start classes toward the end of August though so I don't really want to wait... :( The new m17x looks sweet but I really would rather get a 15 inch.

    i am in the same boat as you...college starts in fall and i really want a 15". if the m15x doesnt come out by then ill probably buy a temprary netbook and buy the m15x immediately after its released :D

    which college are you attending btw?

    Yeah I'm not really sure but I'm going to assume I'll need something capable in the beginning of classes because I'm starting my major (graphic design). So...I'd rather have something before I start classes lol. I go to UIC.
