    Hey guys,
Finally got my replacment machine after my old m17x got replaced, anyway within 2 hours of unboxxing and using it I started noticing some strange keyboard behavioural issues.

Before you ask, No i havnt spilt anything on the keyboard and No I dont have numlock on.

But basically whats happening is when I press any key, im recieving a random input from any possible key instead of the one I actually picked. for example if I press "l" 10 times it will give me 10 different figures...instead of actually giving me an "l"

This only happens periodically, than it will go back to being fine for a couple hours....PLEASE tell me I dont have another faulty m17x ;(

    1. Shutdown
    2. Disconnect AC cable
    3. Remove battery
    4. Depress and hold the power button for a 20 count
    5. Replace battery
    6. Plug in AC cable
    7. Boot up and test

If still having an issue, call the rep who handled your replacement ASAP.

it's possible that the keyboard data cable needs reseating.
worth checking that before going for a replacement imho.
Here's a link (taken from M17 lounge) to the service manual - disconnect and reconnect the keyboard cable.

Well it hasnt occured in a couple hours...just kind of annoyed though that im even having issues with a replacement machine :/
I'm still worried it could give me issues in the future. Any ideas what may have caused it?

Should I just sit on it and wait and see what happens for a couple of days or should I be demanding another replacement?

Just an update on something I just noticed. When its doing it, its not actually randomly generating figures like I first thought. Its actually spewing them out in the "qwerty" order as follows.
This stream occured when pressing the "m" key sequentially:

    567890-=qwertyuiop[]asdfghjkl;'`\zxcvbnm,./-+\1234567890-=qwertyuiop

I'm not sure if this helps with troubleshooting or not...
I also tried reseating the keyboard, this didnt fix the problem. The next thing im going to try is taking the keyboard out of my old machine and replacing it with the current one.

I've also sent an email to the rep that handled my replacement.

Keyboard switch was unsuccessful. Its interesting to note though that it doesnt occur when using the onscreen keyboard.

So i've ruled out the keyboard.Faulty motherboard connection?

    it is bizarre..
can't even think why this could be a mobo.
Can you get a replacement ? are you within the 21 days ?

Could be a faulty connector. Well, since they will not bring a fresh new mobo, but rather some used and probably whacked, - might just reorder the system/get a complete replacement.
