Hey guys, I went to NYC yesterday and just got back this afternoon. I forgot to turn the lappy off when I left though, and when I got back I noticed my touchpad light wasnt turning on at all :/
I checked everything with Command Center and everything seems fine, I changed the colors a few times, and even rebooted on battery power and this thing still isn't lighting up. Everything else is perfect, I'm so confused.
What should I do? Anyone else have this odd problem?
    I'm really hopeing I didn't get a dud....
    Thanks!

There is one small ribbon cable that attaches the palm rest. I'm sure it controls both the touch pad and lights. You might want to try to re-seat it. If you already went through the system settings that would be the only other thing to check. More than likely it burned out somehow.

Did you do Function f12? I know that turns it off and on.. did you plug in a mouse and then unplug it?

also ppl have had some strange issues with lights and have been able to resolve it by using that custom light program in alienware applications.

Yeah I tried using F12 earlier, and the Tpad was working fine (just no lights), like i could move the cursor around and such. Got frustrated and played some Crysis, then rebooted the system and tried F12 one last time for the heck of it, and it WORKED!!!! well that's a relief.
I HATE posting on here over a silly problem like that, only for it to just magically work later....
I don't get it. Thanks for the replies though guys!
    :)

I think we're all struggling with driver related issues that ocassionally cause issues with the lights. However, I've always been able to get the lights to come back luckily
