Hello everyone and thank you for viewing this thread. Short intro, I am a Lt in the USMC and I am currently in Iraq. I bought the M17x after months of reseach, figured it was one of if not best gaming lap tops at this moment. Here is the systems stats: 2.5 Processor, 4 Gigs of Ram, and 160Gig hard drive. Running latest Alienware Video driver because other drivers are giving me problems with reading my Blu Ray. Does any game realy take advantage of Phsics anyway? Beaware Im a newb. And Im sorry if any of this is covered somewhwere else. But I dont have alot of time to sit and search a forum. If this has been covered, links are fine. Thanks.

    Problems:

Crysis crashes or reverts back to window instead of full screen. Lots of slow downs in High graphic setting, very high graphic seytting is very choppy.

Fall out 3 Game sometimes freezes when going to VATS mode. Massive slow downs if I put the games graphic setting on Ultra.

The system plays Tombraider underworld on its highest setting without any problems, ditto for the new ND4SPD, ran the New Call of Duty on all the highest setting smoothly except for one seen that had tons of smoke, fire and Japanese everywhere.

With 2x 9800gt cards I thought this lap top would laugh at anything thrown at it. Is my assumption wrong? Yes SLI is enabled. Ok sorry for the loooong post, thanks for any help in advance.

Sounds like a dodgy video driver tbh however Crysis choked twin 8800GTX's on high settings on desktops when released and since the 9800GT's are basically a die shrink of the 8800GTX it's quite possible that your asking too much of it

yeah i would say that you are expecting too much for Crysis - its a beast and maybe the settings you are using are just too high for the game to run correctly - im using High setting and i have had no problems and i am only using a single 8800m GTX so it could also be a driver problem + you expecting to much from the cards

not too sure about Fallout 3 though as i have never played it and dont intend to

crysis high and very high is hard on your cards turn the settings and rez down to make it better i ran at 1280 on maintstream on dx9 and sometimes it does go to windowed mode i think its just a issue

fallout 3 i have a 1440 screen and i run on ultra with 40-50 fps 60 inside so you need to run it at 1440 to run at ultra proably ...coarse i have differnt cards but hey there saposed to be equal

that is definitely a driver problem. His 9800m SLI setup should be able to play Crysis all high on 1920 1200 just fine.

And max out Fall out Perfectly.

Try installing DOx 182.05 for both of your cards.

Then download CCC 2.21 for crysis and install lvl4 or 5.

The driver will makes all games run smooth and make crysis look great.

You can also try installing the latest patches for each of the games. Bethsoft has just released a new patch 2 days ago. And Crysis has that humongous patch over 100mb to install too.

Man, it could be a driver issue. SLi is a pain in the rear. Try downloading some newer drivers are laptopvideo2go.com, usmc...

Thanks for the recommendations gentleman. I had read driversheaven review of my system and they said that it runs crysis on ultra with out a problem. That review is one of the main reasons why I purchased the m17x because I knew how taxing crysis was so I figured that if the m17x could play crysis maxed out that it would play all other games with out a problem. Thats why im asking for help, makes no sense that the computer slows down. Will try your suggestions and let you know what happens. Should I use all of the recommended setting in the Nivideo control panel or use something else??? I dont know anything about this stuff, thanks guys.

Also consider the CCC pack or the Luxus Silentium mods for Crysis to help balance performance with appearance.

Thanks everyone for the help crysis is now playing nice and fast on very high setting. The windowing of the game was caused by my screen saver kicking on. I adjusted my SLI settings, and downloaded the newest drivers. Also added a ton of virtual memory. The game looks awesome!
