I'm in the market for a new notebook and i really like the m15x, but all i've found around the forums are people complaining about it. Overheating, crackes in the casing, underclocked issues. What's the deal?
how do you guys feel about a Sager? NP2096 seems like a great deal
Thanks for the help.

me personally i perfer the 2096 since there is no hinge issues the only downside is the graphics compared to the many choices of the m15x

I just ordered a M15x myself and dealt with Roswell directly in fixing the billing in the order and bam already done the 1st 3 phases today, unfortunately in which was nice that he gave me the heads up, the site does not update as fast. I will say it was good service overall.

wow peanut...excuse me if i sound rude, but did you even really bother to read any posts? while there are posts against the m15x, there are also those that highly favor the unit as well.
most of the issues with the m15x have been resolved. there has been little to no recent issues with the unit (past month) and the so called complaints have deminished with AW taking a proactive stance in resolving them.
as far as choice....there will be no notebook that is problem free.
your blanket accusation of faulty m15x's leads me to want to say get something other then it, since you seem to have formulated a negative view of it.
if however you are open to what owners like about the unit and would like to get input as to the positives about it, then please repost. -
I'm sorry if my post came off as overly negative. I'm actually really interested in the m15x and in doing some research i happen to notice a rather large amount of negative reviews on CNet, Engadget, Notebookreviews, etc. I guess my question is, since it's launch has AW addressed and fixed most of the issues related to the m15x, and is everyone that owns one happy with their purchase?

the m15x games well
the overheating issue is not there unleess your computer is defective
the hindge issue doesn't happen very often recently
older owners are just now having their hindges breaking now and getting new ones -
yeah i agree with Mr.Moo and ruyjin there are no problem free laptops they all have a problem but most people would rather take the time to complain about how bad their computer is rather than take the time to write a good review about it

Before I bought my m15x I saw a lot of the same negative posts, but you have to remember to look at the post dates, a huge majority were from 2008. Since then AW has fixed the serious issues.
I've had no problems with my m15x so far (~1 month old). The hinges don't seem likely to crack, absolutely no crack or bend over the ethernet port, and there's no overheating. I'm pretty sure the underclocking was fixed with a bios update (the bios x36 that a new m15x would come with if you ordered now). -
well welcome back peanut...
i have had the best experience with my unit since getting it in sept. of 2008.
i have had zero issues to date with the unit.
some of the highlights:
smart bay - can get xtra battery, lightscribe, blue-ray, empty case for extra storage.
hybrid graphics - external (9800m) and internal intel. (this is awesome if your external unit goes belly up. at least you can still get the unit to work and still surf and use it, vice when you have a laptop that you cannot use becuase the gpu is shot)
19x12 screen - i think AW was one of the first to offer this rez in a 15 (i could be wrong). it is a matt coating, but extremely sharp.
you can now get the 15 with up to 8gb of RAM. (if you get the 64OS)
and more, but those are highlights. -
i still wouldnt mind getting my hands on an m15x skullcap of course
