New Notebook Teaser from Alienware, New Notebooks Coming Very Soon?

Before Alienware announced the m15x and the m17x they released a teaser site. Alienware released another one today. I found this site address in an email that I got from Alienware:

It leads to a cinematic of an Alien head starting to reveal something new, then at the end of the movie it says "to be continued". What could Alienware be releasing? I don't think that they'll be desktops since Alienware already has all of their desktops configurable with the latest hardware.

I'm pretty sure that this means the m15x is getting replaced by a new notebook. I don't think that the m17x will since it just came out. Why the m15x? Alienware has had problem after problem with it. Intel also released the faster, more power efficient Centrino 2 Montevina processors today. Coincidence? I wouldn't think so. NVIDIA also has a new 9 series of cards ready, the 9800M GTX would really give the m15x a nice lead in the competiton. The m15x is also going to finally have some competition (the new 15" Clevo), which could mean better pricing. Let's not forget that we still didn't get the black m15x, like Alienware promised. Finally, we all know that Alienware usually doesn't upgrade their notebooks for new processor and video card series, but this will be the last major processor and video card update until next year. They're also getting extra funding from Dell to make new notebooks, and I think that after the build quality problems with the m15x, it's worthwhile for Alienware to do some kind of overhaul. One interesting thing to mention is that the Alienware newsletter with the teaser link in it mentions the m9750, the m17x, and Alienware's desktops, but not the m15x. Also, Alienware is releasing a new AlienNetwork video on August 5. Last time that they did that they released the m17x. Could they use the new video to launch whatever new notebook(s) they have?

Another thing it could be is that curved Alienware display that they showed off a few months ago (it doesn't have to be a notebook, but it could). Or it could mean that Alienware is going back into ultra portable notebooks? We could keep speculating, but there definitely is something new coming from Alienware. I don't think it's a coincidence that they put up the teaser the same day as the new Intel Centrino 2 Montevina processors are released, meaning that it probably is a new notebook.

 

Don't expect 9800GTX on a 15,4" with powerful quad processors. Not even the new Clevo dared to offer such a combo.

Upgraded Chassis Heating Control... More responsive touch controls...Touchpad Keyboard Flex... Theres alot.. Lets hope they fix most. or all.

 

i hope it is a new 15.4 inch, i need one soon for school but am too worried about m15x to get one... plus i need black!

 

They probably would not release another 15" that would replace the m15x as its been out only for 6 months.,

The m15x was announced nine months ago, so it wouldn't be too bad of an idea to announce a new one now, considering that there won't be any new Intel processors for another year. After thinking about it a little more, it definitely has to be a notebook. Think about it: Alienware already announced their curved display. Why tease us with it? Alienware wouldn't tease us with a new logo . It could be a desktop redesign, but it doesn't make sense to do it now since all of their desktops have the latest hardware in them.

I'm sure that the new m15x (if it is a new m15x) will look a little redesigned and fix all of the build quality issues. They'll probably add a much better cooling system, too, and a 9800M GTX.

it is just a teaser for the next month or so i bet.
possible logo change (if the eyes are bigger), but i bet money they are just teasing people into pre-anticipation to keep you on the brink.
while kewl looking, and i bet focusing on new procs, and gpu's etc...it is not something i will hold the edge of my seat for.
i will wait until the site is upgraded to reflect new items and pricing....till then it is just propaganda....

If you saw the final 15" Clevo specs and pricing, you would see that Alienware needs to do something with the m15x to keep making money off of it.

 

i agree they NEED to do something....as i did see the specs and pricing...especially in the 128G SSD offering....
maybe they are waiting to see what the clevo actually offers to people and see if there are any faults, but they lost several potential customers to clevo platform in no small part on past issues with the 15x and also the issues of CS.
instead of being all kewls with a 'short' teaser, they should have boosted the notebook arena of thier offerings with upgraded/new items and better CS.
sorry - but 'bling' only goes so far...

 

I really don't think they are coming out with anything new. Personally, The M15x hasn't really been around for that long (well maybe it feels that way because some people still haven't gotten theirs working 0_0). This could just be a possible way for AW to dive deeper into the "geeky AW thing".

Only time will tell though.

the clevo isn't authorized to do unless you buy from ballsy eurocom.
Alienware knows people like me will pay 3500 for a top notch 9800m gtx 15", there are alot of idiots like me who want a purty laptop (I'm not a skullcap lover, that's just showing off money, usually the people that have one just want to boost their ego) with lightup keys and ass amounts of powa

 

It says - presenting Alienware's First 3D Animated Short.. And then at the very bottom it's got this:

That might give a clue as to what this is all about

i saw the info at the bottom too - so i would gander that there is an associtation and/or possible new 15 coming out...

jeezus and i was just about to order the m15x lol... ugh now i guess i HAVE to wait for the new aliennetwork episode on the 4th... as long as its something in effort to either make the m15x better or something new... it better be in black too haha...

Why would they tease a product they already released? Spend thousands of dollars on cinematics and marketing, get us hyped up, then reveal the same m15x that we've seen for months? Not a very good plan. If it's just marketing for the current m15x, which I doubt that it is, then Alienware has to have a really stupid marketing team. It could just be for the black m15x, but I really doubt that they would do this just for that. Alienware already leaked out the black m15x for a little while on their site (check out my thread about the black m15x being leaked), it's not surprise that they're about to release it. Plus, like I said, the teaser was sent out on the same day that Intel released their new Montevina processors.

 

hey guys check this out...they changed the wording of the sentence below the 8800M GTX..it used to be "The World's most powerful mobile gaming GPU!"..perhaps they are releasing the 9 series soon? but probably on the m17x

 

BTW, at the bottom of the page is text in "Alien language". I'm trying to decode that now. From what I've made out sofar, it doesn't match anything else on the page so this could lead to something interesting. Anyone want to help? You can type the alphabet and preview it for the m15x nameplate to see "Alien language".

I think I translated it right, but I still have no idea what that means. Any ideas? That could just be the name of lead designer of that cinematic, or something else?

still - just hype - and while cute - im not amused at this time considering all the issues with the current 15 and the fact that all this new stuff came out and at the prices....

@ AW-James - Don't mean to be a bother but I think there's a typo on that page.. In the description of the first video it says 'PMS Completing'.. Is it supposed to be 'PMS Competing' ?
Wish I could ask you to give us some more info on the Black m15x but I guess you can't say anything.. Sigh..

 

Sweet, so it's definitely a new product, probably a new m15x! It wouldn't be too hard to replace the motherboard, the cooling system and design a higher-quality case in nine months. Alienware knows all of the problems, let's hope that they fix them! A few changes to the overall design would be cool, too.

 

i really dont understand how people seriously believe a new m15x is coming... It came out in January dont be greedy... a 13 inch is much more likely, also dont forget about alienwares curved monitor

 

I think you guys are taking this way too far. This is just Alienware spending some of their daddy's money to get some more marketing out. That's all.

 

paker: the site at the bottom states specifically about the m15x with a staring role. while 13 would be great, the only thing that AW could do with the 15 is new color and updated insides...

while a new notebook would be fantastic, i doubt it.

probably just marketing hype.

if there's a new system coming, IMO, it'd be a desktop redesign, a 13" or something larger than the m17x. (remember the mALX had a 19" screen... so a montevina-based 19", capable of SLI and quad-core is feasible)

This is making me so angry! I need a new laptop BEFORE september first. Origionally I was going for the M15X then switched to the new clevo,,, but now what do I do? I can't wait two more months to order my machine! I wish they would just tell us what the heck they are launching (if anything) so that I can make my decision. I will tell you people this in hopes that an AW designer see it.... *crosses fingers* I just want a better version of the m15x. Thats all. Just make it actually work this time, same looks and the new platform. Easy to do just put the new guts in it and reinforce the case. PLEASE!
