I am a new owner of an Alienware M17x. I only upgraded CPU to the QX9300 and the Video cards to Dual 280m SLI. Everything else stock.. I must say that after years of wanting one of these.. it is very sweet.

My first gaming laptop was an Emachines M6805 .. then had 2 dells (e1701 series), my last one before this Alienware was a Gateway P6860fx...

I was curious what was the very first original Alienware laptop? I was researching this and couldn't find out.. It would be interesting to see if someone still had the very first one..

    thanks!

So you didn't upgrade the screen, eh? Perhaps you got a nice 40" HDTV waiting in line.

What was the first Alienware? I'm actually looking for someone that has the mALX. That custom paint job was pure awesomeness. Would be nice to have some pics and make a skin from it for my Eee PC.

    I've got a 766.

I planned to take a pic of the all power and the 766 next to each other.

I remember the blue one when it came out.. Wanted it bad.. lol...

Is there ever a need to disable battery being charged..? I would guess while gaming you wouldn't want it to charge the battery.. but this is the only laptop I've owned where you could disable charging of the battery..

I didn't upgrade the screen mainly because I haved used 1440 x 900 for a while now and like it.. and I figured extra pixles would mean less performance in demanding games.. but not sure if it would or not..

(I do have a 42" TV I hook it up to now and then :)
