The momentums are pretty good
not entirely to my taste nor to my enthusiast's demand, but they are very all-rounded
You get good look, very nice metal construction, and frankly not bad sound too
They give similar degree of quality as the legendary HD25
with many pluses besides sound quality
hope you would like it![]()

Hypervenum - I do have a set of Sennheiser Momemtum over ears, very good set actually. Clear with plenty of detail. With lower end MP3's I found them a little to bright at the top end of the treble though. The bass is well controlled without being flabby on challenging tracks there can sometimes be the vaguest hint of bloat but this is probably just my ears searching for things to comment on. Mids are defined and separated clearly. Pair it up with a good headphone amp and you have a winner system.
Hypersonik - I auditioned the LCD-XC as well. Found them to be Moody and not to my tastes. the LCD-3's hand a much more open scape (open back design) I like a set headphones to have several things. Space to me is the most important I don't want to feel like the sound is in my brain, Detail, Layering and smooth response level. I listen to a lot of rock music then trance and into classical. Rock can get messy for headphones but a good set still keeps the sound clear. I haven't actually heard the T1's I keep eying them up for collection (12 sets and growing strong).
Flac has been the best thing ever for music. I use Flac into an Ibasso DX90 or Sony NWZ-ZX1. Love the Ibasso those ESS Sabre ES9018 DAC's are just brilliant. -
)
the sabre chip sure is very popular and well regarded, so I want to give the concero from resonessence lab a try
but my sabre chip (ES9018) experience is limited to the conductor from Burson Audio, and I thought there was nothing special, not good at all if i'm honest
could another manufacturer's magic trick turn the same chip into a sound I like?
I've always love sound from a wolfson dac (my old mp3 player and now in my dac+amp)
but it doesn't seem to have any high-er end dac using wolfson? -
Wolfson chips do seem to have stopped appear in high end gear recently. Maybe a Cirrus chip is worth auditioning? the Sabre chips do Have a certain way to themselves. My Ears vary on my mood. Meridian Explorer DAC is very smooth. NAD D1050 or Arcam irDac is also worth a look into.

Sneak peek on the new tactx accessories.
Keyboard keys do look very similar to the TactX keyboard keys, and the headset matches the one on the Alpha's page.
If I remember correctly, Alienware is partnering with ROCCAT for the new keyboard and mouse, and Klipsch for the headset.
The monitors? Dell monitors. Ehh... -
Dell is definitely capable of good monitors. Hopefull these will just be AW rebranded versions of some of their higher end ones. 1080p/4k with great contrast at 120Mhz.
-
Jk
I am hoping for a nice ten-keyless keyboard, but I don't think they will come up with one of those
I'll probably go with the new K65 RGB from Corsair -
I do like the new headphones looks. I guess we will see what they have to offer befor I decide to ditch my g502 and 430 headset.
-
Any updates on this? Looking for a new mouse hopefully wireless.
-
Nothing really yet. Hoping they will anounce somthing tonight at the alienware event.
-
Here's your new Tactx accessories (aside form headset).
-
Damn why no wireless mouse? Would have been awesome...

Mouse looks interesting but overall I am disappointed
-
Yeah, real bummer that there is no wireless mouse. Was hoping we would finally see one in the TactX line. I suppose wires are just fine for an Area-51 anchored to a desk. At the very least, a wireless option would have been something useful for customers with the Alpha and their laptops.
-
The Alpha is having a custom lap tray called the Sova designed by Roccat for it
-
A tray upon which to use a real wireless keyboard and mouse provided by another vendor, or a contraption to replace a normal wireless keyboard and mouse? Do you have a link for that for us to examine?
-
really ???!!!
this is totally sad for me.
no more TACTX STUFF ??? I buy alienware pcs to have a total branded gaming pc.
Now i have:
AW Optx monitor + AW Aurora R4 ALX + AW TactX Key + AW TactX mouse ! (and the AW notebook too)
i am not going to buy the area 51 without Alienware Monitor designed for it, and new AW keyb and mouse!
it s wat i want from Alienware, a full branded pc, where all the parts are build to match the design!
No Tactx stuff : i will remain with mine Aurora (i have 3970X cpu that can handle 5GHz overclock), it can last a lot of years -
Haha I will most likely roll with my tactx mouse for the next couple of years at the least
-
Here you go Mr Fox
Hands on: Roccat Sova review | Keyboards Reviews | TechRadar -
I never have been too crazy about tactx gear. It seems like they have been behind in tech for a long time. I'm actually looking at a Razer blackwidow chroma for a new keyboard over my tactx in the future.
Also by looking at headset specs I was hoping for 7.1 support but it doesn't look like the klipsch kg-300 will have it. Keeping my Logitech g900 for now.
Now the Alienware brand monitors were good and don't even know why they got discontinued. I still run 2x optx 23" and still think it's a decent quality monitor. -
Probably because they want to sell Alienware under the Dell name as product line rather than a stand-alone brand... just like Precision, XPS, Latitude, Inspiron. I suspect they want to sell Dell branded monitors. Dell monitors are top notch and earn them strong bragging rights, but it would be nice to have an Alienware emblem at the bottom of the bezel instead of a Dell emblem.
-
When I got my first Alienware, the M17x R2, I also purchased the Alienware 2310 with it. Still use it to this day as a secondary monitor even though the colour is not as good as my M18x R1's screen.

You should trade me your 23 for one of my 21.5s
I wanted the 23, but never could come up with the extra cash, so I got 3 21.5sreborn2003 likes this. -

i have 23 AW monitor too, love it and i was waiting for a new optx 27,
i am not going to buy alienware untill it will came out a new monitor and tactx gear!
i can wait -
Dell makes some truly killer high quality monitors. Crappy monitors can be terribly unpleasant to use if you are accustomed to using a high-end display, but I'm in the camp that tends to feel that spending a small fortune on an extremely high quality monitor can be severely overrated compared to having an affordable monitor that does a good job doing what you need it to do. Given a limited budget, my personal preference would be to focus on something that improves performance rather than spend the same amount on a system with a ludicrously high quality display and only provide average performance with weaker components. A person can't miss an experience they are unfamiliar with, which can prove to be financially advantageous.
New tactx stuff incoming!!
