I found this to be an intriguing question so I played with google images for a little while and here's what I found..
Would love to see what you guys come up with![]()

haha, let's hope not!

Tehe - I seen the thread title and thought "Geez, I was thinking about that yesterday myself!"... Glad I got some minds thinking, as mine hasn't left the topic since asking that question.
Having thought about it, I can see mainstream laptops going the touch route; think of the iPad, iPhone, etc. But with Dual screens, in fact, machines such as this exist in prototype form. Main screen being touch, and lower screen being touch which can display the keyboard etc.

As for Alienware, and they're planned direction, I can only assume the typical clam-shell design with a new design to resemble past designs and newer technology inside.
Hmm -
hehe yeah, I was going to respond in that thread, but two reasons stopped me
1 it's too big a question to be a by-product of another thread, I thought many people would have something to say about it
2 it would jam up the other thread with something quite off topic -

some of those designs in the OP look cool!

yeah I have an Iphone and they're also built like eggshells. I upgraded it with a tough case to make it look less crap
And also so it doesn't break the moment it touches anything.

I honestly hope that Alienware never develops touch screen technology for their laptops... It would be a large waste of money. It's a laptop for gaming, and we know how well touch gaming works on the iPad (assuming you've used one, if you haven't it's quite awful)...
Those dual screen PCs are nice, but with black bars on each side I'd never buy one.
I hope Alienware keeps their gamer look. There's nothing I'd change about this laptop. They should keep their focus on maintaining a chassis that can accommodate everything and keep the parts cool. The design ideas flow from there. -
WOAH you got a skullcape iphone do they make some for itouch
a touch screeen alienware would blow my mind as long as it's not a pad something like the actual alienware with a skullcape a touch screen and a 3d screen and i'd get a new laptop -
They don't have the RebelM but the older rebel case is for Ipod touch
Welcome to SwitchEasy
Yeah I think that a 3D touch would be awesome.. Also not sure about dual touch, but if it plays games and if touch is adopted for gaming then why not?
I do like playing games on a touch-screen if it's done well.. -
damn
and they don,t have anything for itouch 3g -
Alienware's gaming "phone"...at least it's big enough to be.
Freescale smartbook concepts take on mobile gaming, iPad & more - SlashGearMr Pras likes this. -
Banned from the forum for life.............

I would guess in the next decade, Alienware will most likely go for 3D screens and maybe thinner design while keeping the power and I am sure that we will finally see some battery tweaks such as fluoride-ion batteries which are supposed to bring up to 5 times the charge in the current space or even methanol batteries (fuel cell).
All of that stuff is coming... -

The next thing to have more influence on laptops is Oled technology.

you would be able to load profiles for each app or game.
-
i would just bad trip if i did not feel something pressing under my finger if my KB is a screen like that i don,t think it'd like and for gaming it would not be that great how ever the area with the trackpad and pal rest how ever ......
-
Hahaha, I was laughing when Akari threw up a pic of an Apple with no explanation lol.
Personally I didn't like any of the pictures I saw in the thread. It's going to be hard for the engineers to beat the asthetics fo the current M17x. I think they have a classy subtle yet stylish look to them. Very sexy lines. I almost like looking at the system as much as my Yamaha R6. Sleek. -
Well I think most of the pictures posted (at least mine I know) were more along the lines of mainstream laptop design/technology direction. As for Alienware and they're next laptop's design, I agree it'll be very hard to beat the current looks of the M15x and M17x.
That said - It's pretty evident that the new M15x/M17x are based off the Lamborghini Murcielago. So let's play with the idea the next one is based off some new Supercar?
I'd settle for something like:
-
Watch the screen upgrade cost 900 bucks. XP -

After having my Realpix 3D for a while now, I wouldn't mind seeing a similar lenticular 3D display on a laptop - or at least a tablet. Especially since the 3D can be switched off easily if its not wanted.

This was done up in another thread, it is all I would need to be happy

scukllcape would convince me to leave my m17 behind

I agree. An aggressive skullcap like the good old days....I would drop some cash to get that.....it is the ONLY thing this laptops is missing lol

oh and about the "mac toughbook", sounds like something from McDonalds...Mr Pras likes this. -

All of you are wrong... it's a Zenovo ST1. Not a Maserati or a Porsche or a Lamborghini. Porsche would NEVER make anything that radical looking.
-
-
Well if you click the link there is a render of the car with a big Porsche logo
I thought it might be a toned down verison of this supposed prototype

I think white M17X /w black mesh and vents would look great.

Those are both shaped like cars.....the fronts really are not that similar at all.....I guess it depends on your attention to detail
-
I don't know if I'd want a Laptop that is based off Ferrari's "budget" line up..... I can already hear the hordes of grief people give it.
-
When the hell did Ferrari have anything priced under the "budget/value" category? I don't care if it's ugly as hell, I want it.. lol It's a freak'n Ferrari dude. LOL
-
Enough about cars
I don't mind the current design but I'd be nice to have something thinner and weigh less.
All of AW line of laptops are huge! -
I think Dell is going to take care of that with the reintroduction of some of it's XPS line. XPs 15/17 should be released soon according to rumors. I'm betting they will be plastic with single GPU's that are as thick as a G73. -
I always did love the looks of the XPS M1330 and M1530, the new models ain't bad looking but they do seem gutless and riddled with heat issues. Not to mention have more plastic in them than a Super Model.
