I have on several powerup instances when the Alienhead splash display isnt showing up. (not the alienhead decal on the cover or power switch).

When I press the power button, the screen is blank and the very first thing to show up is Windows Desktop or whatever was displayed when I placed the machine in Hibernate. BUT when its doing this already, even a SHUTDOWN will not get the machine to display the Alienhead (or POST) anymore unless I remove the power and battery.

This occured lots of times on the 1st MOBO. And this is the reason why I updated the BIOS to A03 last Jan 9 in the first place. With the MOBO replaced, it not occuring much anymore. This has occured once thus far since the mobo replacement...

I'd like to know if this happened to you also.

Alienware M15x is the first NON WINXP machine that I have and I was surprised how the Hibernate works compared to WINXP which shows the progress of saving the data into HD. I thought this was causing the problem - ie, Windows turning off the display and the machine could not turn it on from BIOS..

Lastly, is it normal for the M15x's Alienhead decal on the LCD cover and Switch panel to "glow" for about 30 seconds before it completely turns off? Its very "iffy" i thought its not powering down. and "creepy" (in a nice way) its like a "hard to kill" alien trying to make it's last breathe before turning off.
