    I can't believe this.

    Alienware is refusing to renew warranties for their older laptops!

    i have a m9750 since 2 years.

    I took 1-year warranty when i bought it.
    => ended on January 5 2009
    i took a 1-year extension on January 2 2009
    => ended 10 days ago

    i wanted to renew my warranty again for 2 years, I just got an email from AW saying they don't renew warranties anymore!

    ? And it seems I'm not the only European customer with the same problem...

    what about the people who took 3 years straight? they would still be under warranty right now! and for one more year!

    what madness is this?

    --------
    The more I read/learn/discuss Alienware, the more disgusted I become...

    Probably has more to do with the fact that Dell is now providing the warranty support on the AW line.

    The won't do it for machines that don't have a service tag (which is the case for older AW machines)...

    Just take the money that you would have used for the warranty, and save it towards a new laptop. ;)

    m9750 is a bit aged. it's just a sign to get a new one if something happens to it.

    I feel sorry for the ones with the far less reliable machines such as the Area-51 m15x and m17x, especially ones with the 8000 series cards legendary for burning out...

    Hopefully my 3870s will be strong enough to last for 3 years at least.

    Have their been many stories of 3870s burning out?

    Old news, dude.

    I have made threads and post about Alienware stop renew warranty even on M17, 11 months since launch.
    You can cry and whine more about your 2 years old laptop. I did for my m17.

    have you come up with any kind of solution?

    Is this even legal considering :

    a) those who took 3 year warranty with there m17 or m9750 a literally fu**ing this new AW policy since AW have to honor their warranty (which for those lucky ones is far from over)

    b) I don't remember where, but I read you could re-extend your warranty to an equal amount of 3 years max like in a) just as long as your renew your warranty before it ends.

    People that are still in warranty period will get the warranty if anything happens.

    If your warranty expires, then you are screw*d.

    There aren't solution. We just got thucked.

    And there is no typical "good for 4 years + no trouble" for any computer nowadays.

    It can sudden go popped, and it's gone.
