I tried to price haggle on an AW 18x 3000 dollar+ (4k+ including taxes) machine.
Called Dell for an offer. Got 0 cent off list price in their best offer. Could not even get "free" shipping. Had to pay 50 dollar to get a 3K+ machine delivered.

Dell Sweden have closed consumer sales and only have corporate sales teams. For consumers Dell says that the web is the way to order. When you call for a price, you get the same as on the web if you are a consumer.

I wonder if Dell will do the same on other countries ending the classic 10-20% off haggle making AW even more expensive.

    *sad*

Yeah, they're screwing up big time this year. Their models are 10% larger and not more powerful, They are costing more then they did before, service is getting worse progressively. Features are being removed and less is being offered. They are outsourcing more, and trying to cut costs everywhere, even if it means offering an inferior product. They haven't updated any drivers for the latest flagship in over a month. Thought, it says they were released a week ago, they re-released the same drivers and bios 3x now, without any changes, only affecting the release date listed.

Alienware is starting to suck big time. Soon as the next brand that makes something decent comes along, you just know people will be switching. AW are at this point riding their namesake, and the hype of their product more then anything.

Oddly most people who do not own an alienware simply say its too expensive.... that its not worth the price, but they don't understand it. Its not the price that matters. Its the product that matters. In this case, their product is starting to cascade fail, form the looks of it.

That's what happens when some corporate giant buys out all the competition and takes over smaller companies... they sell as much as they can, in some varied half life of the product and when its done, they scrap it and move on, consuming another independent resource somewhere else, and marketing that until its gone as well...

    exponential times my friend..

Not just Sweden, but Europe in general have a pretty tight policy regarding haggling. They are not in touch with Dell HQ like Dell US I think (except UK which have a bigger market) and may not therefor even have the same authority to just hand out discounts.

Bigger the market, better chances of haggling, it's simple economics. And dell have no choice but to make some profit, it wouldn't help us either, if dell went down taking alienware along with it.

It quite ironic, apple has love written all over, yet it's most overpriced laptops on the market, with least features in terms of hardware and are made by the lowest paid workers.

Exactly. Both UK and US have the best discounts. People have their own reps their that is able to give them the desired discount.

I dont think I have ever heard about a Norwegian or Swedish rep giving away discounts.

Yeah, in general the demand is too high for the new models I guess?

When I ordered my R4 I got 5% discount only because I called and said I wanted a discount - and it was already on sale. I don't know about the new model, but if the prices on the website are starting to become "carved in stone", it would definately leave out some customers - well me, at least.

They give discounts in EU. But only to companies.
I dont understand that. Companies already get the stuff 25% cheaper in Sweden since they don't have to pay tax for the stuff :/

Maybe Dell/AW will be sane again after the buyout.

Companies in sweden pays tax on everything they buy. It's just that they don't pay tax at the time of purchase and then adjusts how much they pay according to how much tax they should pay and how much tax they get from their customers.

On topic though I've discovered this too. When I bought my m11xr1 I got a router and a printer included for the same price as the system without the extras. Think they did free shipping aswell.

I purchased an m14 earlier this week and there's no way to get a hold of a seller by phone and their chat cannot do anything in terms of customization or discounts.
