    Folks,

    Looking into a M17 still, what is the noise issue with the fans like? noticable??

    The Alienware M17 can be described as a very quiet ally in idle use or rather, low load. The device is still audible with a volume of 35.2 dB(A), remaining with its muffled running noise in the background. Depending on use, the system fan starts-up for a short period and increases the volume somewhat.

    I was about to post what Armando said in less technical terms, it's pretty quiet idle or in game. The loudest it gets is during startup ironically but only lasts a second or two.

    mine is so low at idle i dont notice it and during games i have the sound on so i cant hear it over the laptop speakers so .... to me i never hear it :D

    Same here. Don't worry, this system is very quiet. Even during games.

    Unless you get a NZXT Cryo LX cooler lol...don't recommend this if you want a quit machine.

    would using a cooler make it quietier? or will the added fans jsut add to the noise??

    My akasa cooler fans do more noise than the actual laptops ones :p
