This question actually goes to the people with the m17x that dont game anymore. How happy are you with it? Would you rather have another notebook?

I think i might be the only person that owns a m17x and doesnt game lol, but just curious

    You're not.
A lot of people here are using m17x for benchmarking, video editing and many other stuffs.
And, I'm quite sure they're happy with it.

I game very little compared to most but I do benchmark a lot. My biggest complaint about using the M17x as a "regular" laptop is the size. The M17 is much easier to transport.

I came to the M17x from a MacBook Pro. The AW is faster in raw power but the Apple makes up for it in workflow (I just find it takes me fewer steps in OS X to get things done). The MBP is also a joy to travel with.

But think of the money you saved by using the M17x for double-duty purposes. Carrying it around "pumps you up" and alleviates the need to buy a Bowflex! :D

lol, the reason I ask is b/c i recently got a warranty exchange for my old xps 1730, and I have been craving for a MBP for its sleekness, and the fact you gte awesome battery life and its mobile.

But the more and more I read in these forums, the more i am tempted to keep my m17x. I just feel a little torn,... Dont know what to do. I know i dont need thr sli nvidia cards, 9400m seems ok for what I do now today...

thanks for the replies so far guys

Buy the M17x and buy a Asus Netbook with like 9 hours of battery life.. Then you got it made, For a lot less money.

When I'm on the road Ill just take the netbook. If I'm on the road for awhile i take both and use internet sharing on my netbook so I can take the gaming laptop online and play FPS. SCORE!

Last week I learned that a 3g connection is plenty fast enough for online gaming.

Sure would be nice to be independently wealthy and own both, huh?

I liken the M17x to the good ol' days of Detroit Iron in its heyday: big muscular bored-out V-12 with lots of low-end torque and enough ponies to run like a bat outta hell, burning rubber and gulping fuel the entire way. The MBP is more like one of those Eurosleek vehicles: refined, pedigreed, lithe, agile, well mannered, and all around fun to use. Some days the former is preferred, other days the latter. Just depends on one's frame of mind on any particular day.

Ok, back to my E-machines desktop and its squirrel cage power supply...

funny you say that, I have an Eee PC asus 1000he n280 with 2GB ram and 9.5 hours batt life.

I take it with me to school but its just a tad too underpowered for my everyday use at school.

Sooo i was thinking about selling that too if i got the MBP lmao :D

i think the perfect combo is this and a 13" macbook pro. but it is costly though

i think there is not people with the m17x who don't game at all, maybe m15x owners bought it for the i7 and those can be non gamers :)

sigh.... I would def. do this if i didnt go back to school full time, cost of being a student. The AW is honeslty the most beautiful of a machine i have eversoon. It is very well built too.

Lemme ask you a quation. How reliable are the m17x's with the 260gtx sli? I know they run much cooler than the 8800m gtx(which were crap). My 1730 broke every other day.

Indeed it is, I play Crysis Wars and other games where ever I go with my M17x, by tethering the 3G from my iphone, I love it.

I don't game that much. I pretty much do a lot of " stuff " not gaming related. I don't even play my PS3, eventhough I have a 52" XBR.

I love my m17x. This is my second most expensive upgrade from previous years. it seems that I spend more. Like buy more, get more kinda thing. lol

Funnily enough, that's what I'm considering if I do well enough in my exams to merit it. A £1000 13in-MBP would be perfect to take me through my A-levels at school, but it still seems a lot to pay for that extra bit of comfort.
