I have an M17x with 4GB off RAM. Windows recognises it but says only 3.75GB usable.
I'm running Windows 7 x64 bit so that could not be the problem.

On my old Dell XPS1530m I have Win7 x64 and 4GB off RAM and there it uses all 4GB.
    Does anyone have an idea?

    Thx in advance

It's the 9400M using it. Disable integrated graphics in the bios and you should see the full 4GB.

It is your chipset and gpu

To be your gpu it needs ram for storage of the textures known as your desktop

It's an intergrated graphics chip. Unlike actual cards that are put in, it's the GPU alone with no memory modules, so like all intergrated chip it has to take a small bit of the main system memory to store textures on.
