Got my M17x last week and keyboard took a crap first day... They sent a guy over who changed the mobo, it fixed it for 3 hours.... Later that day after powering it up the video cards took a crap..... After 3 hour on the phone they are going to replace it. System config is :
Intel® Core2 Quad Q9000 2.0GHz (6MB Cache, 1066MHz FSB)
Dual NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 260M, 2GB SLI® Enabled
17-inch WideUXGA 1920x1200 (1200p)
4GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1333MHz
250GB 7,200RPM w/ Free Fall Protection
Before they replace it I was wondering if going to the i7 & ATI is going to be worth the extra 400ish $$$? Config is below:
I am wondering how much better the performance will be with this:
Intel® Core i7 820QM 1.73GHz (3.06GHz Turbo Mode, 8MB Cache)
Dual 1GB ATI Radeon Mobility HD 4870 in CrossfireX
17-inch WideUXGA 1920x1200 (1200p)
4GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1333MHz
250GB 7,200RPM w/ Free Fall Protection
Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Only thing I didnt mention is that I would have to wait about a month for the R2. Is it going to be that much of a difference in performance? Only thing i use it for is gaming & spreadsheets

yeah way worth it. more upgrade paths for new version. $400 more but much better hardware.
-
whats worth more the 200mhz for the 820 vrs the 720 or a RGB LED screen cuz id definatly go that route
-
You probably won't regret it
-
lemon law. is there one for computers =) id get the newer model for the extra dough if you can swing it
-
if you complain enough about legitamite problems im sure they will give in eventually
-
Wow two problems on the same day! that's very unlucky.
Like it was said before you won't regret it. -
Thank you for all the input! Turns out that the new system is going to cost 629 more.... Guess I was really getting an amazing deal. I knew that I hit the wall because the rep I spoke with told me he had to transfer me to the EPP site because the price I had was too low and he couldnt match it. After another hour dealing with them, I needed to head out and scheduled a call back. Of course no one ever called me back...

The only draw back is the Waiting.

Well forget DELL, I am going to give my money to a different company. Those jokers lied to me telling me that my system was going to be shipped 4 different times and it still has not shipped. I ripped the customer service manager a new hole and told them when they wind up sending me the system it will be refused.
Not sure what to do
