When ever I push Num Lock or Caps Lock a small notification occurs on the bottom right of the screen. This is very annoying in full screen gaes that require Num Lock or Caps Lock to be on and off at various intervals.
Is there a way to turn on and off this notification?
Appologies for the double post - I posted a thread before but on an unrelated topic![]()
Thanks so much!

I think the only way is not to use the OSD
-
How do you turn the OSD off (sorry - seems silly, but I can't see that anywhere - and what else will I loose with the OSD off?)

How the hell can you have that weird problem
-
However here's an update for you all...
(and why the hell doesn't someone else have this weird problem?)
Here's my theory...
1) I turned off the OSD via msconfig - It didn't help
2) I have a funny feeling it's Logitech mouse related - but why I think this I do not know!!!
I really want this issue fixed- Dell as per usual know nothing... and I... Know just slightly more than nothing...
-
unninstall it, I formated the other day and didnt even install it, I prefer not to have it
-
But if I stopped it from working in msconfig then wouldn't that have the same effect (essentially)?
Though it wouldn't harm, it's easily re-downloadable anyway I guess - but there must be (in my crazy recognition) a way to turn that on and off - there just must be! -

Not OSD, leave that one alone.
Its the Bluetooth driver. Do not uninstall it... If you have CCleaner, go to the startup items module, highlight bluetooth.lnk and select disable to prevent it from loading at startup. This should resolve the issue.
If you aren't using CCleaner, just type MSCONFIG into the RUN command and then select the startup tab. Uncheck 'Bluetooth'.
For good measure, open up the Bluetooth Control Panel and on the Options tab, uncheck the box for 'Show the Bluetooth icon in the notification area'.Attached Files:

I actually remember seeing this posted a couple of months back. Took me a few minutes to make the connection to the offending component.
-
You've nailed it - how good is that?
It worked.
But why on earth is it bluetooth related? what a really unusual thing....
What have I lost at start-up without the bluetooth program working?
Thanks again... -
You haven't lost anything really. All you are doing is telling it not to launch at startup. Unless you have a bluetooth enabled device that must sync at startup, its not going to bother anything. At least I dont believe it will. I dont believe in bluetooth keyboards so I cant test. There are a whole slew of devices out there - so who knows. Again, if you dont have anything then dont worry.
If you need to connect a device such as a cell phone, just open the Bluetooth Devices Control Panel. Once open, click on Bluetooth Settings and setup the device. -
I have found a fix that seemed to work for me without having to disable bluetooth.
If you go to Stealing Focus - How To Prevent Programs From Stealing Focus in Windows and follow the instructions everything should be fine and the caps/num/scroll lock notification will not interupt anything. -
Hi all
I have a problem which have been troubling me for as long as I have had my M18x and that is when I press the Caps Lock key (accidently) the games drop to desktop. Its pretty annying when you are playing BF3 and it gets little intense and you press the Caps Lock instead of Shift and the you drop to desktop and when you put the game to top, you'r dead.
Is there anyway to fix this?
Thanks for reading.. -

If you go into your registry you can disable it, I had the same issue some how just show up randomly after a few months of it not ever showing up. Got rid of it and have not had the problem since.

On my m17xr4 during bf3 I have accidentally pressed caps lock quite a few times but it never goes out of game.
Windows key is a different story though. -
Yeah, I had a period where pressing Cape Lock didnt do anything either but then suddently it came back.
Thanks for the tips guys. -

Disabling it would be the best way to go. Give it a try and let us know.

There's a solution for this in an old thread that requires no changes to the registry. I will merge it for you. See post #9.
This only seems to be a problem on Windows 7. Windows 8 does not appear to have the same issue. -
Thanks, seems to work now
