thanks but i see that that is a mxm3 slot. meaning that the ocz (m17) can been sli'd in the notebook.

Just how much gain is it over the 9800GT? Looks like it'll be plug and play! Maybe power and heat consumption is the issue, that's why Alienware doesn't offer it!

Worth a try though, maybe I can *sweet* talk them into selling me one !!!!God Bless

Pudget is a Clevo vendor.
There are many many other Clevo vendors that sell the videocard modules.
... you have to contact them directly to order it.
I believe the 9800M GTX MXM modules only in the Clevo systems.
FYI, the Clevo M860TU (15.4") can not handle the 9800M GTX because of the heat... the M15x will not do any better. -
It would most likely need the fans to be on full all the time. Not the current 82C cycle.
-
Step 1: Buy 9800m GTX
Step 2: Open bottom of case
Step 3: Remove heatsink
Step 4: Remove current card
Step 5: Install 9800m GTX
Step 6: Replace heatsink with new layer of thermal pad or thermal paste
Step 7: Do not replace bottom of case
Step 8: Place laptop on active laptop cooler with big fans
Step 9: Profit!
Step X: Whenever you do not use a laptop cooler, install bottom of case and run off integrated graphics. -
I would still hot wire the existing fan power, to make it run at 100% all the time, just for safe measure.

I think you should reconsider your purchase of one of these cards. As Gophn noted, not even the Clevo 15.4" competitor to the m15x can handle the heat given off by the 9800M-GTX, so the m15x's ability to sufficiently cool it is doubtful. Also, there are no guarantees it will even work. Just because a card is MXM does not mean it will be compatible.
What video card do you have now? The performance difference between a 9800M-GT/GTS and the GTX is not so significant that there will be a night and day difference in your games. And for the $500+ the card is likely to cost, it is definitely a questionable 'upgrade' (upgrade in quotes to emphasize this will probably not work). -
Won't work and it does not give a big boost in performance so 550 wasted
-
Do you think Bill Gates would be able to purchase one and also Maybe a custom Liquid Cooled M15x?
-

Besides liquid cooling would killlllll your battery life this turning it into a m17
Nvidia 9800M GTX
