i have an alienware m9700 with windows vista ultimate, i recently restored my computer to factory settings and got all other drivers workin except my graphics card, its an nvidia geforce go 7900, i ran DXDIAG and it is showing that i have a standard VGA graphics adapter. but not even solataire is opening i get a message saying "hardware acceleration is either disabled or not supported by your video card" i got a similar message when i tried to watch a dvd the other day.

    any ideas?

    thanks

i went to the nvidia site and ran a scan to see what driver they recommended GeForce Release 175
    Version: 175.32 WHQL
    Release Date: August 5, 200

i downloaded this file and ran it and i then got the message "the nvidia setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatoble with your current hardware. setup will now exit" ???

check out stone's guide that's stickied on this forum...sounds like you need a modded .inf from laptopvideo2go...all the instructions and links are right there on the first page

    good luck

For the moment, I think this is true, since iirc, they haven't released global notebook drivers for the 7-series yet. For the 8-series and later, you can get drivers straight from NVIDIA, but for older systems, you'll either need to get a modded .inf or download something from Alienware.

hi bud i still have m9700 awaiting at the mo as well...

sorry to be a pain but 64 ultimate on m9700 no good theirs not enough ram in the system to play games and run vista with that , ive had this laptop to bits and been their with vista 32 and 64...... but

if you still want to play with your drivers ect to see what you can get out of it goto (laptopvideo2go.com) and you will find 64bit drivers for nvidia cards, when you have downloaded the driver you want also download the modded inf file next to it, then extract driver and copy and paste new inf file over the old one.... trial and error im afraid to find the right driver... may have to go into safe mode sometimes after installing them if they dont work....just download another one untill you find the one thats stable. hope this makes sense.

sorry never read the post above....
