Hey guys, any feedback would be helpful because I dont know what is wrong.

    My situation:

I just changed my FSB through BIOS to 1285 and it clocks at around 2.4 ghz. I ran an OCCT test and used 3dmark06.

OCCT - left it for an hour and the test went perfect
3dmark06- got around 10550 prior to OC, after i got 12500

Everything was working fine until I started playing L4D. I maxed out the settings to see how it would handle. It was good for about 10-15 minutes and then a crash. Afterwards, my screen started to flash white dots all over in random places and random times... probably thousands of them. Do I have a serious problem here? Did I fry my GPU?

I also tried to reboot and change the FSB back to 1066. Tried to play L4D and it crashed again. I'm not sure if I could be concerned here. Help??? THANK YOU!

Sounds like a GPU issue to me (VRAM or GPU).

Try resetting your BIOS back to factory defaults and see if it goes away.

Just remember that your card could have been faulty before you oc'd. So don't blame yourself because you oc wasn't enough to cause damage.

Now I can't change my FSB frequency in BIOS when I load up. Clock mode should be on UnLinked, correct? I set it to factory. Testing...

Maybe if you're seeing spots you should see an Optometrist?

Sorry, only kidding. With the Q9000 you can't change the clock mode or the multiplier because its not an extreme processor. You can only change the FSB via BIOS.

Yes. I am in BIOS and I can't switch the FSB frequency as I did before. Any suggestions?

Put the bios back to default and make sure the 9400M is enabled. When you boot into Windows go into power saver mode and see if the issue still occurs.

I would pull the battery then pull the CMOS.

That will clear your BIOS for sure....

Tried that, but it still didn't work. The only way I can change the FSB is when I use the "+" or "-". I was able t change it numerically before, but now I can't. Weird..... Still doesn't explain the white dots tho.

Uhh, you do have the numlock enabled? lol

Anyway, if the white dots persist than I'd give Dell a call. You could also boot the Resource DVD and it will run a diagnostic on the system (Dell will have you do this anyway so you might as well give it a shot).

Ok, tried it at 1285 and OCCT crashed. Left me with a black background while I could still access the windows bar with slots. opening up programs didn't work. Does this mean that I'm unstable at this frequency?

Probably. Try 1280, 1275 and so on. Mine is stable at 1280.

Have you run OCCT, and if you have, does the screen turn black within 20-25 min of it starting up after oc'ing?

I didn't run OCCT yet, it's installed and waiting on my hard drive though =)
However, I did a few 3d mark 06/vantage runs and I'm using the laptop ~6 hours a day and more, and it never freezed or did anything weird.
