Bothe screen options are LED standard ie NO CCFL option. Better be a good LED panel. lol

They are playing the GPU part close to the chest. Usually the specs indicate what card is in there but I can't find anything.

    Nice links!

Just went through it myself. It's gonna be a solid laptop. I hope the base doesn't start with 2GB Ram.

Anyway, is this thing supposed to sport 2 video cards?

EDIT: Nevermind, I see it has 1 card only. Still pure awesomeness.

Damn, this makes me feel bad about my newly bought m17x. The new m15x seems to have everything this one has plus more portability. Anyone can tell me why I should be happy with my m17x and make my day?

Well, for me it's the screen. I couldn't do with less than 17" in my main computer. Also the dual hard drives, and dual cards. That's about it. If it weren't for these things I would be all over this new one.

I thought it might have looked just a little more different.

if the GTS 250M or GTS 260M turns out to be MXM 3.0 type A with SLi support and they find their way into this thing, things could get interesting...

    Ok. Where's phinagle!

What cards are 1. MXM3.0b compliant and 2. have thermal budgets of 35W and 65W?

We solve that and we might have an answer :)

Just checked. Listen to this :)

The thermals on the 4870 are 65W while the 280 is 75W. The GTS 260M runs 37W.

Not jumping to conclusions but I am getting a little excited :p

I'm guessing they'll have the GTS260M standard with the 4870 as an upgrade option?

lol... poor soul the one that bought that M17 for 2k.

Sleey0 how about a service manual for the other 2 monsters?

Still it's a high end laptop and it's smaller for better portability so i'm surprised they left out such a useful feature as mobile broadband. If i'm travelling around with my laptop i want an internet connection wherever i am, not having to worry about if i'm within range of a wifi connection

Yeah i know but it would of been more convenient if it was built in especially as other manufacturers do that. Those sticks can be lost easily and you could forget to bring it with you whereas if it's built in it's always there when you need it. Just surprised they left that feature out on such a high end laptop.

it says Stealth Mode in the manual.
i remember that was a feature for the old m15x.
thats not just for nvidia cards right?..
because if it was, wed know they were going to use an nvidia card.

Like others say - get a mobile broadband USB stick. I have, and more importantly carry a 3 meter USB extension cable. The ammount of times I manage to get a good signal by sticking the USB stick out of the window of the hotel makes it worthwhile. (Big Tip - I use electrical insulation tape to keep the USB stick attached to the cable, wouldn't want it falling off)

Just realised it doesn't have an HDMI connection either. That's strange to leave that out when so much equipment now days uses HDMI connections. That means i wouldn't be able to connect it to my HD TV.
