2 screws under the battery, then 2 screws under the wrist rest and the touch pad panel lifts up. The BT card goes on the left side. (if you have not gotten it installed yet) :p

    Woo thanks Igsshedden!

Wifey is very happy with hers. She takes a lot of high-definition photos (8mb-14mb each) and her machine allows her to manipulate them with ease. Another side note is her camera uses SanDisk III high performance cards that my desktop and relatively new Sony Vaio cannot read. The M15x seems to read them without issue and the transfer rate is VERY fast around >20MB/s.

    Linky: Replacing Bluetooth on M17x

The M17X has a very similar body to the M15X so this guide should work for you. There is a link on the guide on how to remove the palm rest where the BT card goes.

Let's be mature in here, please . . . don't stalk people in any fashion or make comments. If necessary I will go digging through the database to find out what some of you have been up to.

That said, my M15x review will be up this week. Watch out for it. :)

Did you do some OC'ingin in your test? I'm curious to know how far the GPU can be pushed in the M15x. Some furmark tests with xtreme settings and max AA at native resolution would be great too. Thanks.

Nice congrats! 12 days isn't bad at all, though I hope they can cut it down to about a week. My gf's EDD is Dec 3rd but I'm guessing it will probably ship out by the 24th-25th of Nov based on how fast they've been shipping lately.

Question to other M15x owners: when the power button is pressed to turn on the laptop, is only the right fan supposed to spin really fast and not both?

You know, that actually happened to me once. When i turned on my comp, the right fan spins really fast while the left one barely even made a sound. After 3ish minutes past, the right fan slowed down. Weird.

Normally both the left and right fan are pretty silent when I turn on the comp. O_O

well i got a little more than that.. got around 12% off the final price (he put me under business customer).. and i actually got the refund for my old area 51 m15x system so basically spent only 50 quid from pocket... ;-) ... but only thing i am concerned about is the order confirmation mail(though the customer care ppl told me my payment has been processed and gave me an order number which iam not yet able to track my order with)... how long did it take for u to recieve it??

Sounds like a good deal. I am in the same boat with the order number. It is just a broken link and my account says there is no pending orders. Guess it might take some time. I am going to run it by the rep when I talk to him about my Bluetooth and I will let you know. Received the confirmation email while on phone with rep.
Now that they have my dough the rep is impossible to get in touch with. lol

Has anyone been playing World of Warcraft on their M15x?

If so I'd like to know how it performs for you?

I haven't been getting very good results with mine unfortunately :/

Frame rate has been brilliant, always between 60 and 120 ish, this is on max res and high details - BUT, even when the frame rate shows as, say 80, it'll stutter like every few seconds, or when I go into a big fight / capitol - BUT, again, the frame rate stays above 30 so I should never see any form of visible slow down, should I?

I've tried a lot of things, v-sync, triple buffering, turning off the Command Center, Alien Sense etc.. Nothing seems to change it much - the stuttery performance still persists :/

I was thinking maybe it's a multiple core thing? Or an HT thing? Seems like a processor issue.

I have the 1GB 260M card and fitted an OCZ Vertex HD myself - so there are no bottlenecks in the system like a mechanical HD would cause.

Windows 7 Index thing rates everything at around 7 or above too.

Any ideas..? I could really do with a breakthrough on this one!

wow runs just fine on my machine, no issue sat all. The biggest thing most people misconceive with wow is that its more cpu intensive then anything else and that the larger the populated area it is (ie Darlaran) the lower the fps you will get.

I find it difficult to explain things to the CC people. They talk like robots. I asked if i will be getting my order confirmation mail and he tells me he already sent me booking confirmation. i told him it is BOOKING confirmation and he says YES. I then tell him I am talking about order confirmation he tells me thats the same... WTH...

I believe that if you got the email with the order # (9 Digit) you're all set, if you only have the purchase ID then you are supposed to get an email confirming your order with the order #

    Welcome to the waiting Game.

Question, how are you getting the 12% discount. Are you an EPP member? Or are you just calling up dell and talking down the price? I didnt even know that was possible....

I just kept asking for a lower price. At the point where he would not go any lower I told him to call me back but only if he could meet my price. Sure enough 10 minutes later he called back. I saved about $200.

Hi all, first post I believe, brand new to the forums as a member but always have browsed for information before deciding on the m15x laptop. I am a longhaul truck driver and needed something powerful enough to game on and still be somewhat portable and ordered my m15x. I thought I would post to give you guys an ideal turnaround time.

    Ordered: 11/07
    Shipped: 11/17
    EDD: 11/21

    Location: Maine, USA.

Anyway I also picked up through amazon the Razer Orochi and Kabuto hoping they work out well. I will do a review upon arrival for them all and also some quick specs on laptop.

    i7 720 1.6ghz
    1920 screen
    4 gig 1333 ram
    500 gb hdd
    dvd player
    260m gtx

Only thing I might regret is not having a BRD player, we will see though. ANyway thanks for all the info folks and I can't wait!

tell them you will buy it then and there if they give you a discount.... what i did was, I told them i have a 5% discount already with me but was not still happy with the price. They asked me to send the discount code to them and later that day i got a call telling me they will give around 12% discount and sent me a proforma invoice detailing the reduction.

Here is a 5% discount code for any one ordering from UK 7N79Q7ZB$WH51B Expires on 18th Nov.

and i did not show much enthusiasm/interest in the system.. kindda made them feel i have other cheap alternatives (novatech UK with 280m GTX and 820QM i7 around 1600 pounds as opposed to around 2000 pounds M15x without discount) and asked them to give me a good deal.

I didn't do any GPU OC'ing, but despite that the M15x is easily one of the fastest notebooks we have tested here. My config was the 1920x1080 screen (gorgeous), 920XM Extreme CPU, 4GB DDR3-1333, 500GB 7200RPM, Blu-ray ROM, Cyber black, 9-cell. I still have it with me for a few more days.

It's a shame the 920XM processor can't be overclocked in the BIOS; the temps I recorded were low enough that some overclocking should have been possible.

Not really, it was pretty straight forward although time consuming to enter all the changes. Tho if you are going to plan a color scheme you'll want to know that the touchpad and media strip cannot be set up like the rest of the lights, they have to be a static color.

    @Roxy:
Make sure its seated firmly. Just apply firm pressure to one end and pass over the length of the space bar. The 'I' key on my M17x wasn't correctly seated on arrival and had to be snapped back into place.
