I am trying to get from dell but they are saying PCIe cards will work. I may be wrong (ok i probably am wrong) but this will not fit in my system.......
The one he is trying to sell me is $189.00 HD 4870 1 GB GDDR5 PCIe 2.0 Graphics Card
-
Did you give them your service tag?
-
No have not recieved my system yet.....
-
Yea, your definately a No-Go at this station
Incompatible. Thats probably a desktop card.
-
I cant believe they do not have a better idea of what going on than this
-
Is it flickering?
-
lol Stick around long enough, this won't suprise you, remember they hire sales people to work the phones, not neccessarily computer savvy individuals.
-
For the kind of money these machines cost you would think there parts and tech service would be out of this world
-
You have obviousely never called their tech support have you ?
-
I just spoke with a Dell rep and he told me they are making R2 machines with i7 processors on MCP79 mobo's. With 9400 onboard... What the ______?
Is that even possible? -
Dealing with them now. Hour two and we are still working on what my name is and my address
-
All the more reason to ignore everything that comes out of a reps mouth. -
nO ITS JUST NOT POSSIBLE
-
has anyone heard anything about the bios update yet?
-
Well with all the out sourcing Dell has been doing hard tofind any intelligent life out there any more
-
It will be made available soon. -
Can someone explain what the onboard GPU on the i7 620M does? And can it be used as a onboard GPU the way the 9400 was?
On the Intel website it says it has got an onboard GPU built into the processor.
Thanx -
That IGP is not compatible with the PM55. So it's useless on this machine.
-
With R1 and R2 bios updates in progress (for F knows how long), it's highly unlikely we're going to see dual 5870s by CeBIT in March. Just being optimistic you know
-
-
Any chance of the virtualization fix in it ? I can hope right ? I mean while there fixing that issue it cant be THAT hard to fix the VT issue.......
-
The new bios will definitely be out by CeBit or at least shortly after. The 5870 systems should have an even newer bios that supports the 5800 cards. -
I ordered the extra RAM for VT, so I hope they do it soon...
-
Same, thats why I got the 8G Ram for mine...
-
Oh we won't see them BY ceBit, we'll see hem AFTER tho. They are likely to announce them at ceBit in some fashion with an eta sometime mid-late march with orders shipping a bit after that. So optimistically speaking, based on what's going around, it's most likely a month or so before we see them shipping.
-
Hate to say it but VT support is available with the G73 and comes default with 8GB of memory.
-
I know...I know....
Still think I am happier with this system, and I have a work around in place for the 64bit guest os, kludgy but it works.
On a different note, you like the HyperX memory better than what comes stock in this ? if so why ?
I am shopping around for a SSD right now....how do you like the 128GB Mushkin IO SSD compared to the Intel one ? -
Is many people will return their M17X 2 for the 5870 ?
-
I can show you benchmark comparisons between the Elpida memory (default AW), Kingston ValueRam and Kingston HyperX memory...later on tonight when I get home.
So far the Mushkin is working out well but it's early. I'll have more of an opinion on it after a couple weeks of using it. I just installed it yesterday. -
For those wondering about how well the new bios works, I've put up a short video showing L4D 2 running in crossfire mode using a 920xm processor. The video is still processing but should go live in a few minutes:
<param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/b1kQeb7W-Fc&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/b1kQeb7W-Fc&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width='425' height="344"></embed></object>Last edited by a moderator: May 6, 2015 -
the video is broken...
-
No it isnt.
-
How did you made 100+ fps on L4D2?
is this due to your processor?
I can't get more than 60-70...Last edited by a moderator: May 6, 2015 -
The benchmarks would be appreciated, thanks. What made you decide on Mushkin and not aneother Intel ?
-
I run with vsync off and don't use triple buffering. -
so new bios is out for R2?
-
Here's a review for the Mushkin with benchmarks, LINK.
I purchased it over the Intel 160GB because I could buy 4GB of the HyperX memory and the Mushkin SSD for the same price as the 160GB Intel. Plus the drive seems to be clocked faster than other Indilinx based SSDs. -
Not as far as I know.....
-
Joker got it early. Everyone else will have it soon
-
On that note, is there a special BIOS Utility that we use to flash these or ?
-
I get the same fps as you joker without turbo enabled. but with turbo enabled thats when I get the flickering.
-
Ei guys... I'm having trouble with my M17x-R2.. Whenever I put my laptop to sleep, then I wake it up and logged back in to my profile I can't see my task bar or restart/shutdown my laptop.. >.<
-
so you happy with the lappy now?
-
so can someone answer this when you pick the laptop up does it creak? or when you close the lid?
-
Couldn't be happier. I highly recommend it to everyone, it's the best notebook I've owned yet (M15x comes a close second).
Nope, no noise at all. -
mmm sturdy
i like that
-
Sorry if I sound like a noob, but this is my first post here since becoming an Alienware owner. Other than the flickering issue which is being addressed, I LOVE my M17X-R2! It's hands down the best PC I've ever owned.
Alienware M17x-R2: Intel i7 720QM | 6GB DDR3 1333 MHz | 17" 1200P RGB LED | Dual 1GB ATi 4870 | 1TB 500GB 7200 RPM x2 Raid 0| Intel Ultimate N 6300 -
They've overnight removed SSD's as an option in Australia. Need to wait a few weeks before I can pay out my current lease on the M1730, but will then be ordering one
Some positive comments coming about it now
-
Damn. I was gonna buy one of there SSD separately
-
You're getting flickering on a 720qm?
