I knew this was going to happen. Ok, so here is the deal - there will be NO *Reserved for my pics even though I haven't ordered* or any other *Reserved* posts. If we allow this, its just going to turn into 10 pages of reserves and no pictures/initial thoughts.

Sorry folks, this is the way it has to be. Going forward, only posts with an actual arrival pic/initial thoughts/vids will be permitted. So, when you receive your M11x, post away!

have you hosted your images online?

 

You have to upload them to picasa or photobucket or any picture sharing site, then copy the link from that site, then click the picture button on the post toolbar here and insert the link.

As an alternative, use the 'Go Advanced' button and then when creating posts use the paperclip button to attach images.

http://tinypic.com/ is also a good one, just be sure to use the resize option for websites.

No, it is just a strange size this laptop LOL it has 9" depth and 11" width where most of these netbook have 8" x11" It is one of the things that bothers me about it, makes it look like old 4:3 laptops lol

so with rounding...
1366/768 = 1.78

Same here. I am not a fan of a "square" looking laptop. I did some math though and the M15x is equally "square" and the M17x is only slightly less "square."

So if you want an Alienware lappy...as i do, bring on the "square" look.

I'm getting one tomorrow. It actually arrived at my doorstep today, and I wasn't home. Not going to open it right away until I figure everything out though. The reason why is because this might actually be the one that I canceled. The re-ordered version is still in production. I'm going to give DPA a call tomorrow to see if I have been double charged.

edit: when you get the box, do you get a slip notifying you the spec? Like you know how they ship the alienware box inside another box. Will there be a slip in the middle?

 

I wish I could load up some games and do some benching, but these pics were about all I could convince my wife to do... I am on the road, and will not be home until tomorrow.


Our conversation went like this

Me: "did you turn it on?"
Her: "No, I took those pictures and put it back in your office"
Me: "Didnt you want to check it out?"
Her: "Not really!"

Her immediate thing she said to me on the phone was "this thing is dense - really heavy for being so tiny"

Maybe I can convince her to take a few more pics tonight.

It should be significantly heavier than your netbook. Netbooks are uber light.

According to WaR, Alienware puts the stickers in the bottom of the laptops.

 

I am gonna go work out, when I get back maybe I can convince her to take a pic of the power supply. Lord knows I have hauled around that 1730 brick forever, and even the M17x one seems really light by comparison!

lol i really wish I was getting mine anytime soon My EDD went back to march I must be on the ridiculously slow parts line.

i'd sell it on ebay n see how much people would buy it from you for... supply vs demand...
lol who knows you could sell it to someone who doesn't know much about it and spend more than its worth.

 

I don't know yet. I have to pick it up tomorrow. Even then I'm probably not going to open it. I have to first find out all the stuff that has been charged onto my DPA account. The website is useless, it shows me that my DPA balance is only $12.

 

My wife does love me!!! She took all these additional pics with a real camera, and they are much better. The black looks metallic....

 

That black is simply...wow...

Agreed - soooooo glad I stuck w/black now.. The Silver/Gray is just "meh"... IMHO..

btw, the folding edge of the front cover does emit light?
the two edge beside the alien head of the cover i mean.
because one of the pictures on first page showed that it emits red light, or that was just a mere reflection of something red?

Is there an internal mic with the M11x? If so, how does it work with Skype?

 

I'm sure it does, it does have a web cam. Who knows though, we need verification.

 

I've been following the M11x threads for like 2 weeks now and do not remember anyone mentioning an internal mic. It would be nice because I have nice headphones and really do not want to buy a headset.

Probably - as most gloss black laptops are... I wouldn't expect this to be any different. I'll just carry a polish cloth in my bag for it..

I'm really impressed with the black color even more now - as I had originally thought it was just a "standard" black - not with the "sparkle" as detailed in the recent pictures.. definitely cool...

Now can't wait even more - just found out via the site that my unit's "shipped" - will call tomorrow to see if I can actually get a tracking ID.

Just ordered an SSD as well to throw into this thing once it gets here.
